The 2004 Big Ten men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball Big Ten men's basketball tournament, tournament for the Big Ten Conference and was played between March 11 and March 14, 2004, at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The championship was won by 2003-04 Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team, Wisconsin who defeated 2003-04 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team, Illinois in the championship game. As a result, Wisconsin received the Big Ten Conference, Big Ten's automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, NCAA tournament. The win marked Wisconsin's first win in their first appearance in the championship game. It also marked the first time in tournament history that the top two seeds appeared in the championship game. Michael Joseph Wilkinson (born October 1, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. Standing at , he played at the power forward position. Amateur career Wilkinson attended Wisconsin Heights High School, where he played basketball for the Vanguards. In his senior year, Wilkinson earned the Mr. Basketball award, which is the player of the year award in Wisconsin high school basketball. Wilkinson played college basketball for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2001 to 2005, redshirting his freshman year, for a total of five years with the basketball program. He averaged 14.3 points per game and was selected to the All-Big Ten Conference First Team his senior year. Jitim Young (born December 19, 1981) is an American basketball player. Young attended Northwestern University and was famous for his play at the collegiate level and as an All-American at Gordon Tech High School. High school career Young attended Chicago's Gordon Technical High School, where he averaged 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists per game. He led Gordon Tech into the Illinois state tournament his senior year of 1999–2000 where they advanced to the Elite 8 but were eventually defeated by West Aurora, the eventual state champions. Jitim was named to the Chicago All-area team and gained All-State honors. As a junior Young averaged 18.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. Penn State Nittany Lions Men's Basketball
The Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing the Pennsylvania State University. They play home games at the 15,261-seat Bryce Jordan Center, moving there from Rec Hall during the 1995–96 season. Their student cheering section is known as the Legion of Blue. The team played its first season of basketball in 1897, finishing with a 1–1 record after playing Bucknell twice. They lost the first game 4–24, and won the second 10–7. The team went without a formal head coach until Burke Hermann in 1916. The program has ten NCAA tournament appearances with its best finish coming in 1954, reaching the Final Four.
