2003–04 West Bromwich Albion F.C. Season
During the 2003–04 English football season, West Bromwich Albion F.C. competed in the First Division. Season summary The club had been managed by Gary Megson since March 2000, who oversaw promotion to the Premier League in 2002 and subsequent relegation back to the First Division in the 2002–03 season. The club spent £1.5 million in the summer transfer window, including the £750,000 of Rob Hulse from Crewe Alexandra. In the 2003–04 season, Albion had their best League Cup run for 22 years, beating Newcastle United and Manchester United before losing to Arsenal in the quarter-finals. The team also enjoyed good form in the league, remaining in the top two from mid-October until the end of the season, winning promotion back to the Premiership, again as runners-up, at the first attempt. Drissa Diallo
Drissa Diallo (born 4 January 1973) is a Guinean former professional footballer who most recently played for Cheltenham Town. Although he holds French nationality, he represented Guinea on eight occasions at international level. Career After playing for Sedan, Liege and Denize, Diallo signed for KV Mechelen in 1998. In 2003 Mechelen went into liquidation and Diallo was released on a free transfer. He promptly moved to England and signed for Burnley. Although the Lancashire club were keen to sign Diallo on a long-term deal after he had impressed Stan Ternent during his time at the club, Diallo spent only 5 months in Burnley before Joe Royle swooped to sign him for Ipswich Town at the end of the season. Thomas Gaardsøe Christensen (; born 23 November 1979) is a Danish former professional footballer. Gaardsøe most notably won the 1999 Danish Superliga with Aalborg Boldspilklub, and played abroad for English clubs Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion.
