2003 Australian Open – Women's Doubles
Serena and Venus Williams defeated Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez in the final, 4–6, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2003 Australian Open. It was their second Australian Open title together and sixth major title together overall. Martina Hingis and Anna Kournikova were the reigning champions, but Hingis did not participate. Kournikova partnered with Chanda Rubin, but lost in the third round to Conchita Martínez and Nadia Petrova. This was the first edition to feature a final set tie-break. Meghann Shaughnessy
Meghann Shaughnessy (born April 13, 1979) is an American former professional tennis player. She achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 11 in 2001 and won six titles on the WTA Tour. Her best doubles ranking was world No. 4, and she won 17 career doubles titles, including the WTA Championships in 2004. She is best known for her serve, which was one of the most powerful on tour, and has produced as many as 22 aces in a match. Elena Olegovna Bovina ( rus, Елена Олеговна Бовина, , ɪ̯ɪˈlʲenə ˈbovʲɪnə, links=no; born 10 March 1983) is a former professional tennis player from Russia. Barbara Schett
Barbara Schett Eagle (; born 10 March 1976) is an Austrian former professional tennis player, who reached her highest singles ranking of world No. 7 in September 1999. Between 1993 and 2004 she played in 48 matches for the Austria Fed Cup team, winning 30. Katarina Srebotnik (born 12 March 1981) is a Slovenian former professional tennis player. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 20, on 7 August 2006. On 4 July 2011, she became the No. 1 of the WTA doubles rankings, holding this ranking for ten weeks.
