Slalom Skiing
Slalom is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline, involving skiing between poles or gates. These are spaced more closely than those in giant slalom, super-G, super giant slalom and Downhill (ski competition), downhill, necessitating quicker and shorter turns. Internationally, the sport is contested at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, and at the Olympic Winter Games. Trine Bakke
Trine Bakke (born 11 January 1975 in Trondheim) is a retired Norwegian alpine skier. By the end of her career, she had won two World cup competitions in slalom ( St. Anton 1999 and Maribor, 2000). The highlight in her career came at the WC 1999 in Vail where she won the bronze medal in slalom behind Zali Steggall and Pernilla Wiberg. Britt Janyk
Britt Janyk (born May 21, 1980, in North Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian retired alpine skier, specializing in downhill, super-G, alpine combined, and giant slalom, having also competed in slaloms in the past. During her career Janyk scored 18 top 10 finishes in alpine skiing World Cup competition, including two podium finishes, both in downhill races: a win in Aspen and a third in Lake Louise, both in 2007. She announced her retirement from the sport in May 2011. Her brother Michael Janyk is also an alpine skier who successfully competes in the World Cup. She contributed regularly to the Eurosport coverage of the 2012-2013 Alpine Skiing World Cup. Hedda Berntsen (born 24 April 1976) is a Norwegian sportsperson who has competed internationally in telemark skiing, alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and skicross. She is world champion in ''Telemark classic'' from 1997. She later concentrated on the alpine Slalom skiing, slalom, her career peaking in the 2000–01 season with consistent performances in the Alpine skiing World Cup, World Cup as well as a bronze medal at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2001, 2001 World Championships. She later switched to skicross, receiving a silver medal at the Winter X Games XII, 2008 Winter X Games. In the Vancouver Winter Olympics on 23 February 2010 she won the silver medal in the women's skicross competition. Lisa Bremseth (born 25 June 1979) is a Norwegian alpine skier. Competing at the 1997, 1998 and 1999 Junior World Championships, her best finish being a 13th place from 1999. In the 2003 and 2005 Alpine World Ski Championships her best placement was 28th in giant slalom in 2005. She made her FIS Alpine Ski World Cup debut in December 2000 in Sestriere. Vanessa Vidal (born 21 December 1974) is a former alpine skier from France, who competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics and 2006 Winter Olympics. She is the sister of former Olympic slalom champion Jean-Pierre Vidal and the niece of former alpine skiers Jean-Noël Augert and Jean-Pierre Augert. Career Vidal, born in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Savoie, made her debut in the Alpine Ski World Cup during the 1994–95 season, and was classified 104th overall. Claudia Riegler (born 16 July 1976 in Salzburg, Austria) is an alpine skier from Austria who competed in slalom skiing for New Zealand. She has represented Austria in the 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer, Norway; the 1998 Winter Olympics at Nagano, Japan; and the 2002 Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City, Utah.
