The 2002 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship was the 15th edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB. It was held in Salta, Córdoba, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Santa Fé and San Juan in Argentina from September 28 to October 13, 2002. All times are Argentina Time ( UTC−03:00). Eduardo Duhalde
Eduardo Alberto Duhalde (; born 5 October 1941) is an Argentina, Argentine former peronist politician who served as the interim President of Argentina from January 2002 to May 2003. He also served as Vice President of Argentina, Vice President and Governor of Buenos Aires in the 1990s. Born in Lomas de Zamora, he was elected for the local legislature and appointed ''intendente'' (mayor) in 1973. He was deposed during the 1976 Argentine coup d'état, and elected again when democracy was restored in 1983. He was elected vice-president of Argentina in 1989, under President Carlos Menem. Duhalde resigned as vice president and was elected Governor of Buenos Aires Province in 1991, and re-elected in 1995. He ran for president in 1999, being defeated by Fernando de la Rúa. The Polideportivo Islas Malvinas is an indoor arena located in Mar del Plata, Argentina which was built for the XII Pan American Games in 1995. It is qualified to host such sports as basketball, handball, volleyball and tennis, as well as to accommodate any type of show, convention and exhibition. The men's volleyball tournament at the 2002 Asian Games was held from Tuesday October 2 to Saturday October 13, 2002 in Busan, South Korea. The men's volleyball event was contested for the 12th time at the Asian Games. China and Japan's best players had to miss the event due to the schedule conflicting with the 2002 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Argentina, but South Korea withdrew from the world championship to participate in Asian Games. The Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV) ( Portuguese: ) is the continental governing body for the sports of volleyball in South America.
