2001–02 Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Season
The 2001–02 season was Tottenham Hotspur's 10th season in the Premier League and 24th successive season in the top division of the English football league system. Season summary Glenn Hoddle's return to White Hart Lane as manager was seen by many as the revival of Tottenham after many seasons of mediocrity. Spurs reached the Worthington Cup final with Spurs fans hopeful that Hoddle's comeback would result in instant success. However Blackburn Rovers won 2–1, and Tottenham's silverware bid was over. Unremarkable Premiership form ended their UEFA Cup hopes, and they had to settle for ninth place in the final table. Tim Sherwood
Timothy Alan Sherwood (born 6 February 1969) is an English former football player and manager. As a player, he was a midfielder from 1987 until 2005, notably as captain of Blackburn Rovers' Premier League title-winning side in 1995. He also played for Watford, Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Coventry City. He made three appearances for the England national team in 1999. Sherwood began his coaching career at Tottenham Hotspur, progressing from assistant first team coach to manager in a five-year spell, then managing the club from December 2013 to his dismissal in May 2014. He resumed his managerial career at Aston Villa in February 2015, taking them to that season's FA Cup final and saving them from relegation from the Premier League, until being sacked in October 2015. Darren Anderton
Darren Robert Anderton (born 3 March 1972) is an English former professional footballer and pundit. As a player, he was a midfielder who notably played in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City. His twelve-year spell with Spurs yielded 299 league appearances, scoring 34 goals. He won the League Cup with Spurs in 1999, and was then runners-up in the same tournament again in 2002. He also played in the English Football League for Portsmouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers before finishing his career with AFC Bournemouth. In his final ever game as a professional player he came off the bench to score the winner with a spectacular volley in a 3–2 win for Bournemouth on 6 December 2008. Chris Perry (English Footballer)
Christopher John Perry (born 26 April 1973) is an English football coach, former footballer and pundit. As a player, he was a defender who notably played in the Premier League for Wimbledon, Tottenham Hotspur and Charlton Athletic, as well as in the Football League for West Bromwich Albion, Luton Town and Southampton. Following retirement, Perry became a youth team coach with Dagenham & Redbridge before coming a pundit for Talksport and BT Sport. Football career Perry started his career with Wimbledon, the team he supported as a boy, and grew up within walking distance of the club's ground at Plough Lane. He debuted in the early 1990s and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club. Goran Bunjevčević ( sr-cyr, Горан Буњевчевић, ; 17 February 1973 – 28 June 2018) was a Serbian footballer who played as a defender in Serbia, England and the Netherlands. Playing career Club career Tottenham Hotspur Bunjevčević joined Tottenham Hotspur in May 2001 from Red Star Belgrade for a reported fee of £5 million. He made his Premier League debut on 18 August against Aston Villa in a 0–0 draw. Steffen Freund
Steffen Freund (born 19 January 1970) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder in both the German and English top flights. He was capped 21 times for his country and played a significant part in Germany's UEFA Euro 1996 winning campaign. Club career Freund started his career at Stahl Brandenburg, coming through their youth system. He has said that the Stasi made an unsuccessful attempt to recruit him as an informer during his time at the club. In 1991, he was transferred to FC Schalke 04 and he established himself as an important midfield player. Schalke were forced to sell Freund due to financial reasons in 1993 to Borussia Dortmund where he stayed until 1998. Mauricio Ricardo Taricco (born 10 March 1973) is an Argentine professional football coach and former player who is currently the assistant coach of K League 1 side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Taricco, whose father was Italian and hailed from Sardinia, was as a full-back capable of playing as right or left back who initially played from 1993 to 2004. He began his career in his native Argentina for Argentinos Juniors before transferring to England, where he spent the next ten years representing Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. Stephen Carr
Stephen Carr (born 29 August 1976) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a right-back, sometimes deputising at left-back or centre back. He started his career with Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur in 1993 and remained with the club until 2004. He had a spell with Newcastle United until 2008. From 2009 until 2013 he stayed with Birmingham City, also captaining the side. He is a former international player with the Republic of Ireland, having made 44 appearances. Neil Sullivan
Neil Sullivan (born 24 February 1970) is a professional football player and coach. He played as a goalkeeper from 1988 until 2013, playing in the Premier League for Wimbledon, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, and represented Scotland internationally. He started his career with Wimbledon, and remained with The Dons for twelve years during which he made 181 league appearances. He also at times covered for the likes of Dave Beasant, Hans Segers and Paul Heald, and also spent a period on loan at Crystal Palace.
