2001–02 Drexel Dragons Men's Basketball Team
The 2001–02 Drexel Dragons men's basketball team represented Drexel University during the 2001–02 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Dragons, led by 1st year head coach Bruiser Flint, played their home games at the Daskalakis Athletic Center and were members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The team finished the season 14–14, and finished in 4th place in the CAA in the regular season. Bruiser Flint
James "Bruiser" Flint (born July 23, 1965) is an American men's college basketball coach, currently an assistant coach at Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball, Arkansas. He was most recently the head coach at Drexel University. Collegiate playing career Flint is a 1987 graduate of Saint Joseph's University. While attending St. Joe's, Flint was a member of the school's varsity basketball team. Flint was named to the all-Atlantic 10 Conference, Atlantic 10 team as a senior, and was inducted into the St. Joe's athletic hall of fame in 1988. Early coaching career In 1987, Flint became an assistant coach at Coppin State University. Two years later, Flint became an assistant coach under John Calipari at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (or UMass). Robert Clark Battle (born May 5, 1981) is an American professional basketball player who plays for Quimsa of the Liga Nacional de Basquetbol of Argentina (LNB). Standing at 6-foot 8-inches, 230 pounds, Battle is a power forward and center. He is a two-time Super 8 champion in Argentina, one-time league champion in Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, and in Spain's LEB Oro. Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coach Of The Year
The Coastal Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coach of the Year (formerly the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coach of the Year) is a basketball award given to the most outstanding men's basketball head coach in the Coastal Athletic Association, as chosen by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters. The award was first given following the 1983–84 season, the first year of the conference's existence, to Joe Harrington of George Mason and Dick Tarrant of Richmond. The 2001–02 UNC Wilmington Seahawks men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina Wilmington during the 2001–02 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Seahawks, led by eighth-year head coach Jerry Wainwright, played their home games at the Trask Coliseum and were members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The 2001–02 George Mason Patriots Men's basketball team represented George Mason University during the 2001–02 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Hagan Arena
The Michael J. Hagan Arena (previously known as the ''Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse'') of Saint Joseph's University is SJU's home court for men's and women's basketball. The new arena seats 3,800, which is 600 more than the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse seated. A renovation begun in 2023 adds a concourse, larger offices and locker rooms, a Hall of Fame room, study rooms, basketball center, and practice facilities. 700 seats were added to the student section which puts the total at 1,700 and makes this part of the arena even more intimidating for opposing teams. The City 6 is an informal association of college athletic programs in the Philadelphia area. It is an intra-city intramural competition, but it is also used as a colloquial term to describe all the NCAA Division I schools in the Philadelphia area. The colleges in the City 6 are all of the traditional Philadelphia Big 5 schools—La Salle Explorers, La Salle University, Saint Joseph's Hawks, Saint Joseph's University (SJU), Temple Owls, Temple University, the Penn Quakers, University of Pennsylvania, and Villanova Wildcats, Villanova University—along with Drexel Dragons, Drexel University, which was formally added to the Big 5 rivalry after the 2022–23 basketball season.
