2001 European Speedway Club Champions' Cup
The 2001 European Speedway Club Champions' Cup was the fourth motorcycle speedway championship for clubs competing in Europe. It was organised by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM). The competition was primarily for Eastern European teams and only featured Polish teams from three of the 'Big four' leagues, with the British, Swedish and Danish leagues choosing not to compete. Polonia Bydgoszcz won the Championship for the third time. Simon Vladimirovich Vlasov (born 10 January 1981) is a former Russian international motorcycle speedway rider. Career Vlasov represented the Russia national speedway team at the 2003 Speedway World Cup, where the team reached the race-off event. He won the silver medal with Renat Gafurov and Siergiej Filiushin at the 2004 European Pairs Speedway Championship in Debrecen, Hungary. Mikhail Leontievich Starostin (born 24 February 1955) is a former international speedway rider from the Soviet Union. Speedway career Starostin holds the record for Russian National Championships, winning the title seven times. In addition, he won the Soviet Union Individual Speedway Championship five times during the period from 1979 until 1990. Oktyabrsky Speedway is a motorcycle speedway team based in Oktyabrsky, Bashkortostan and who race in the Russian Speedway Championship. Stadium The Neftyanik Stadium, has a capacity of 7,000 spectators and opened on 25 August 1962. It is located at Gorodskoy Park on Komsomol'skaya Ulitsa, 206. History The club began life in 1963 as a collaboration between the two Bashkortostan cities of Oktyabrsky and Ufa. The team known as Devon Ufa Oktyabrsky was formed by R. Yulbarisov, M. Vorsin and U. Gilyazetdinov and competed in the second season of the Soviet Union Championship. However, after just one season the team folded before returning in 1970. Headed by Yuri Gavrilovich Khramov the new team raced as Burovik (Drillers) Oktyabrsky for two years (the name was due to the nearby Volga-Ural oil and natural-gas region and finance from the Tuymazaburneft trust). Henrik Anders (Henka) Gustafsson (born 14 August 1970) is a Swedish former Motorcycle speedway rider. He won the 1993 World Pairs Championship with Tony Rickardsson and the Speedway World Team Cup in 1994 and 2000. He earned 50 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Career Gustafsson, rode for Indianerna in the Swedish Elite League starting in 1986. Gustafsson rode in the first of his four Speedway World Finals in 1990, despite failing to qualify for the 1990 World Final in Bradford, England, he got a lucky break when he replaced the injured Dane Jan O. Piotr Protasiewicz (born 25 January 1975 in Zielona Góra, Poland) is a Polish international speedway rider. He is a four times World team champion and earned 24 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Protasiewicz began his career riding for Falubaz Zielona Góra in 1991 where he would spend four seasons. He began to record some notable performances including reaching the finals of three Speedway Under-21 World Championship in 1993, 1995 and 1996. In the 1996 final he scored a perfect 15 point maximum to be crowned the World U21 champion. Tomasz Robert Gollob (; born 11 April 1971 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is a former Polish motorcycle speedway rider. He appeared in every Speedway Grand Prix series between its inaugural season in 1995 and 2013. He earned 52 caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career summary Tomasz Gollob spent almost all of his career with hometown club Bydgoszcz until he moved to Unia Tarnów in 2004. Denis Štojs (born 23 January 1978) is a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider. Career Štojs was a member of the Slovenia team at the 2002 and 2003 Speedway World Cups.
