2000–01 Wright State Raiders Men's Basketball Team
The 2000–01 Wright State Raiders men's basketball team represented Wright State University in the 2000–01 NCAA Division I men's basketball season led by head coach Ed Schilling. Season Summary While the Raiders would not challenge for the conference title, the 2000-01 season was the best season since the 1992-93 season, and easily the best of the Ed Schilling era. 18 wins, a winning conference record, the fourth seed in the conference tournament; the season would again end with a loss to Butler University who would go on to upset Wake Forest in the NCAA tournament. Melson, Sheinfeld, Deister and Hollins all had monster season. It felt like a return to form for Wright State Basketball, however the pattern of dominant home play yet puzzling road losses remained. Horizon League
The Horizon League is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I. Headquartered in Indianapolis, the league's eleven member schools are located in and near the Great Lakes region and in part of the Southern United States. The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Horizon League for the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. They are coached by Doug Gottlieb. The Phoenix have appeared five times in the NCAA tournament, most recently in 2016. History The Green Bay men's basketball team began play in the 1969–70 school year where it competed at the NAIA level before moving to NCAA Division II in 1973. In 1982, it moved to NCAA Division I, where it competed in the Association of Mid-Continent Universities (now the Summit League). Mitchell Center
The Mitchell Center is a 10,041-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. It was completed in 1998 and is the home to the University of South Alabama Jaguars basketball teams. The Center is named for the Mitchell family, local real estate developers who have given over US$35 million to various University causes (both the Mitchell Cancer Institute and the Mitchell College of Business are named for them), including $1 million for construction of the Center.
