2000–01 Stoke City F.C. Season
The 2000–01 Football League, 2000–01 season was Stoke City F.C., Stoke City's 94th season in the Football League and the seventh in the Football League Second Division, third tier. Manager Guðjón Þórðarson, Gudjon Thordarson again brought in some of his fellow countrymen as Stoke were looking to gain promotion to the First Division. The close season saw Stoke beat higher placed teams in the form of Birmingham City F.C., Birmingham City and Liverpool F.C., Liverpool but a goalless draw with Wycombe Wanderers F.C., Wycombe Wanderers emphasized that pre-season results mean nothing. Stoke's form was steady if not spectacular but two terrible cup exists, defeat to Nuneaton Town F.C., Nuneaton Borough in the FA Cup and a shocking 8–0 loss at home to Liverpool in the League Cup threatened to derail Stoke's season. Tony Dorigo
Anthony Robert Dorigo (born 31 December 1965) is a former professional footballer, sports pundit and co-commentator. As a player, he was a defender from 1983 to 2001. He had lengthy spells in the old First Division for both Aston Villa and Chelsea before signing with Leeds United in 1991 where he won the title and went on to feature in the Premier League from 1992 to 1997. He later had spells in Serie B with Torino before returning to top-flight English football with Derby County. He retired in the Football League with Stoke City in 2001. Stefán Þór Þórðarson (Anglicised Stefan Thor Thordarson; born 27 March 1975) is an Icelandic former professional footballer who played as a striker for ÍA Akranes, Östers IF, SK Brann, Kongsvinger IL, KFC Uerdingen, Stoke City, IFK Norrköping and FC Vaduz as well as the Iceland national team. James Anders Mikael "Gädda" Hansson Finér (born 15 March 1968) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a right back. He represented Söderköpings IK, IFK Norrköping, and Stoke City during a career that spanned between 1988 and 2001. He won one cap for the Sweden national team in 1994. Bjarni Guðjónsson
Bjarni Eggerts Guðjónsson (born 26 February 1979) is an Icelandic former professional footballer, who was last manager of KR. He has played in Belgium, England and Germany and has two brothers who have also played professional football, Þórður and Jóhannes. All three played together at Genk. He is also the son of former footballer and now manager Guðjón Þórðarson. Club career Bjarni was born in Akranes. Brynjar Björn Gunnarsson (born 16 October 1975) is an Icelandic former footballer who last played for KR as a midfielder.
