2000–01 Phoenix Suns Season
The 2000–01 NBA season was the 33rd season for the Phoenix Suns in the National Basketball Association. During the off-season, the Suns signed free agents Mario Elie, and Tony Delk, and acquired Chris Dudley from the New York Knicks. The Suns were coached by Scott Skiles, who enjoyed his first full season as head coach as the team posted a 7-game winning streak after losing their season opener, and held a 28–20 record at the All-Star break. The Suns posted another 7-game winning streak between March and April, and finished in third place in the Pacific Division with a 51–31 record, which earned them the #6 seed in the Western Conference; for a franchise-record 13th season in a row, the Suns qualified for the NBA playoffs. Scott Skiles
Scott Allen Skiles Sr. (born March 5, 1964) is an American former basketball coach and player. He coached the Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic. A first-round draft pick out of Michigan State University, Skiles played ten seasons as a point guard in the National Basketball Association, NBA. He holds the NBA record for List of National Basketball Association players with most assists in a game, assists in one game with 30, set in his fifth season in the league and second with Orlando, in which he also earned the 1990–91 NBA season, 1990–91 NBA Most Improved Player Award. The 2001 NBA All-Star Game was an exhibition basketball game which was played on February 11, 2001, at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., home of the Washington Wizards. This game was the 50th edition of the North American National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Game and was played during the 2000–01 NBA season. Allen Iverson was named the game's Most Valuable Player after he rallied the East to garner an improbable 111–110 comeback victory over the West. NBA All-Defensive Team
The NBA All-Defensive Team is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) honor given since the 1968–69 NBA season to the best defensive players during the regular season. The All-Defensive Team is generally composed of ten players in two five-man lineups, a first and a second team. Voting is conducted by a panel of 123 writers and broadcasters. Prior to the 2013–14 NBA season, voting was performed by the NBA head coaches, who were restricted from voting for players on their own team. The players each receive two points for each first team vote and one point for each second team vote. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time.
