2000–01 Alabama Crimson Tide Men's Basketball Team
The 2000–01 Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team represented the University of Alabama in the 2000–01 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by third-year head coach Mark Gottfried and played its home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 25–11, 8–8 in SEC play, which placed them in fourth place in the SEC Western Division. They defeated Vanderbilt to advance to the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament where they lost to Florida. They received an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament where they advanced all the way to the championship game before they lost to Tulsa. Mark Frederick Gottfried (born January 20, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach (basketball), coach, basketball podcaster, and former player who most recently served as head coach of the Cal State Northridge Matadors men's basketball, Cal State Northridge Matadors. The 2000–01 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team represented the University of Louisville in the 2000–01 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, the university's 87th season of intercollegiate competition. The head coach was Denny Crum and the team finished the season with an overall record of 12–19. It was Crum's last season as head coach of Louisville, ending the longest tenure of any Louisville head basketball coach. Crum also became the winningest coach of the Louisville basketball team during his 30-year coaching career, with 675 wins. Rick Pitino replaced Crum after the season ended. The 2000–01 Alabama State Hornets basketball team represented Alabama State University during the 2000–01 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hornets, led by head coach Rob Spivery, played their home games at the Dunn–Oliver Acadome in Montgomery, Alabama as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The 2000–01 Washington Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Washington for the 2000–01 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Legacy Arena (formerly known as the BJCC Coliseum and the BJCC Arena) is an arena located at the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama. The arena seats 17,654 for sporting events, up to 16,250 for concerts and 6,000 in a cut-down theater configuration.
