2000 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles
Three-time defending champion Pete Sampras defeated Patrick Rafter in the final, 6–7(10–12), 7–6(7–5), 6–4, 6–2 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2000 Wimbledon Championships. It was his seventh and last Wimbledon title (matching William Renshaw's all-time men's singles record) and record 13th major men's singles title overall (surpassing Roy Emerson's all-time record). With his first round victory against Greg Rusedski, Vince Spadea ended his 21-match losing streak, the longest such streak in the Open Era. Mark Anthony Philippoussis (born 7 November 1976) is an Australian tennis coach, commentator and former professional tennis player of Greek and Italian descent. Karol Kučera (; born 4 March 1974) is a Slovak tennis coach and former professional player. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 6 in September 1998, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open the same year. Tennis career Kučera turned professional in 1992.
