2000 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament Squads
The 2000 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament was an international football tournament that was held in the United States from 21 to 30 April 2000. The six national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of eighteen players. The age listed for each player is on 21 April 2000, the first day of the tournament. A flag is included for coaches who are of a different nationality than their own national team. Players marked in bold have been capped at full international level. 2000 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament
The 2000 CONCACAF Men's Pre-Olympic Tournament was the tenth edition of the CONCACAF Pre-Olympic Tournament, the quadrennial, international, age-restricted football tournament organized by CONCACAF to determine which men's under-23 national teams from the North, Central America and Caribbean region qualify for the Olympic football tournament. It was held in the United States, from 21 and 30 April 2000. Honduras won the tournament with a 2–1 final win over the United States. As the top two teams, Honduras and the United States qualified for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia as CONCACAF representatives. Belarmino Rivera Jimminson (born 1956) is a retired Honduran football player. Club career ''Nino'' Rivera played for Olimpia, Sula, Platense, Victoria and Real Maya in the Honduran national league. He made his debut with Olimpia in 1975 and finished his career with Real Maya in 1997, aged 42. His final league game was on 30 August 1997 against Marathón. Pumas de la UNAH or simply Universidad was a Honduran football club. History They were formed to represent the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras. He was a member of the national squad at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Julio César Suazo Bernárdez (born 5 October 1978) is a retired Honduran football defender. Club career Nicknamed ''Pungui'', Suazo came through the youth ranks at Victoria and moved to Europe in 2000 to play for SV Wüstenrot Salzburg alongside compatriots Maynor Suazo and Juan Manuel Cárcamo. Junior Gustavo Izaguirre Puerto (born 12 August 1979) is a Honduran retired football defender, who most recently played for F.C. Motagua in the Honduran Liga Nacional. Club career Izaguirre started his professional career at Honduran giants F.C. Motagua with whom he stayed for 8 years. He was the hero of the 2001 Apertura championship final when he scored all three of Motagua's goals against Marathón.
