President Of Kenya
The president of the Republic of Kenya () is the head of state and head of government of the Republic of Kenya. The President is also the head of the executive branch of the Government of Kenya and is the commander-in-chief of the Kenya Defence Forces. History Kenya's pre-independence constitution was based on the standard " Lancaster House template" used for the former British colonies in Africa, was subject to early amendments, and was replaced in 1969. Under the Independence Constitution, the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, was the country's head of state, represented locally by a Governor-General of Kenya, who was the head of government. Jomo Kenyatta
Jomo Kenyatta (22 August 1978) was a Kenyan anti-colonial activist and politician who governed Kenya as its Prime Minister from 1963 to 1964 and then as its first President from 1964 to his death in 1978. He was the country's first indigenous head of government and played a significant role in the transformation of Kenya from a colony of the British Empire into an independent republic. Ideologically an African nationalist and conservative, he led the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party from 1961 until his death. Kenyatta was born to Kikuyu farmers in Kiambu, British East Africa. Educated at a mission school, he worked in various jobs before becoming politically engaged through the Kikuyu Central Association. The deputy president of the Republic of Kenya ( Swahili: ''Naibu Rais wa Jamhuri ya Kenya'') is the principal assistant of the President of the Republic of Kenya. History Prior to the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, the deputy president was known as the Vice-President, and the President had the power to appoint and dismiss the Vice-President at will. In order to remove the repeated abuse of this privilege, the new Constitution promulgated in 2010 mandated that the person nominated as the running mate of a candidate for the presidency during the elections becomes the Deputy President-elect upon their candidate being declared the winner of the presidential elections. Daniel Arap Moi
Daniel Toroitich arap Moi ( ; 2 September 1924 – 4 February 2020) was a Kenyan politician who served as the second president of Kenya from 1978 to 2002. He was the country's longest-serving president. Moi previously served as the third vice president of Kenya from 1967 to 1978 under President Jomo Kenyatta, becoming president following the latter's death. Born into the Tugen sub-group of the Kalenjin people in the Kenyan Rift Valley, Moi studied as a boy at the Africa Inland Mission school before training as a teacher at the Tambach teachers training college, working in that profession until 1955. He then entered politics and was elected a member of the Legislative Council for Rift Valley. Chief Justice Of Kenya
The Chief Justice of Kenya is the head of the Judiciary of Kenya and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya and is an office established under Article 161 of the Kenyan Constitution. The Chief Justice is assisted by the Deputy Chief Justice who is also the Deputy President of the Supreme Court. James Wicks
Sir James Haywood Wicks (20 June 1901 – 1 July 1989) was a British lawyer and to-date the longest serving Chief Justice of Kenya. Biography Wicks was born at Colnbrook, Middlesex in 1901. He was educated at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, King's College London, and Christ Church, Oxford. On graduation he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and began practising in Guildford and London. He thereafter read law, and was called to the Bar at Gray's Inn in 1939. Following the outbreak of the Second World War he volunteered to serve in the Royal Air Force, achieving the rank of Squadron Leader and being mentioned in dispatches thrice. After the war, he resumed his legal career, first serving as Crown Counsel in Mandatory Palestine between 1946-47. Josiah Mwangi Kariuki
Josiah Mwangi Kariuki (21 March 1929 – 2 March 1975), popularly referred to as 'JM', was a Kenyan socialist politician during the administration of Jomo Kenyatta's government. He held different government positions from Kenya's independence in 1963 until his assassination in 1975. Early life J. M. Kariuki was born in Kabati-ini town in Rift Valley province, to Kariuki Kigani and Mary Wanjiku. He was the only boy in a family of five siblings. In 1938, he briefly enrolled in Evanson's Day School but dropped out shortly after due to a lack of school fees. He worked on a European settler's farm until 1946 when he won a bet on a horse at the Nakuru Races. Using his winnings he re-enrolled himself in primary school and although he attended several schools he was finally able to finish his primary education in 1950.
