John Stewart McDiarmid
John Stewart McDiarmid (December 25, 1882 – June 7, 1965) was a Manitoba politician. He held senior ministerial positions in the governments of John Bracken, Stuart Garson and Douglas Campbell, and served as the province's 14th Lieutenant Governor between 1953 and 1960. McDiarmid was born in Perthshire, Scotland, and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1887. He was educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and hired by the Winnipeg Paint and Glass Co. upon its formation in 1902. He later worked his way up to president of the McDiarmid Brothers Lumber Company, which was also located in the city. In 1925, he was elected as an alderman on Winnipeg's municipal council. He represented the city's first ward, located in south Winnipeg. The following year, McDiarmid was elected to the federal House of Commons as a Liberal, in the riding of Winnipeg South. Frederick Walter Hyndman
Frederick Walter Hyndman (February 13, 1904 – October 12, 1995) was an insurance company executive and political figure on Prince Edward Island. He served as the List of lieutenant governors of Prince Edward Island#Lieutenant Governors of Prince Edward Island, 1873-present, 18th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from March 1958 to August 1963. He was born in Charlottetown, the son of Walter Eardley Hyndman and Winnifred Sarah Cotton, and was educated at Prince of Wales College. In 1934, Hyndman married Norah Cecile Shannon. He served as a major during World War II. Hyndman ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the provincial assembly in the riding of 5th Queens in 1955. He was president of Hyndman & Company Ltd (established in 1872). Thomas William Lemuel Prowse (August 31, 1888 – November 2, 1973) was a businessman and was the 17th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island from 1950 to 1958. The son of Lemuel Ezra Prowse and Frances J. Stanley, he was born and educated in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He was proprietor and president of Prowse Brothers Ltd. in Charlottetown. Active in local politics, he was a councillor on Charlottetown City Council for eight years and served as the 26th mayor from 1930 to 1932. Edward Chester Plow
Edward Chester Plow, (September 28, 1904 – April 25, 1988) was a Canadian soldier and the 22nd Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. Education Born in St. Albans, Vermont, he was educated at Lower Canada College and then entered the Royal Military College of Canada in 1921, student # 1649. Career He was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in 1925. He served in Canada and England before World War II began. During World War II, he commanded the artillery of the 1st Canadian Corps. In 1944, he was promoted to Brigadier, Royal Artillery. After the war, he was promoted to Major-General and became the commander of the Eastern Command in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1958, he was appointed Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker and served until 1963. He died of lung cancer in Brockville, Ontario in 1988. Alistair Fraser (March 15, 1885 – January 24, 1964) was the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, from 1952 to 1958. Campbell Leonard Macpherson (July 4, 1907 – June 28, 1973) was a businessman born in St. John's, Colony of Newfoundland and was the third lieutenant governor of Newfoundland. The son of Cluny and Eleanora Macpherson, he was educated at Methodist College, St. John's, Westminster School, London and Columbia University was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1957. He began his career in the family business at The Royal Stores in 1925. In 1965 he became president of that establishment upon the death of his uncle, Harold Macpherson.
