1999 World Weightlifting Championships – Men's 69 Kg
The Men's Lightweight Weightlifting Event (69 kg) is the third men's weight class event at the Olympic weightlifting, weightlifting competition, limited to competitors with a maximum of 69 kilograms of body mass. The competition at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships took place in Athens, Greece on 24 November 1999. Each lifter performed in both the snatch (weightlifting), snatch and clean and jerk lifts, with the final score being the sum of the lifter's best result in each. The athlete received three attempts in each of the two lifts; the score for the lift was the heaviest weight successfully lifted. Weight Class
Weight classes are divisions of competition used to match competitors against others of their own size. Weight classes are used in a variety of sports including Rowing (sport), rowing, Weightlifting#Weightlifting sports, weight lifting, and especially combat sports such as boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Alternatives to formal weight classes include catch weight and openweight. The existence of weight divisions gives rise to the practice of weight cutting. To be the largest individual in a weight division is perceived as advantageous; therefore many athletes lose weight through dieting and dehydration prior to weigh-ins to qualify for a lower weight class. Turan Mirzayev
Turan Mirzayev (; born September 24, 1979, in Lankaran) is an Azerbaijani weightlifter. He is a three-time Olympian and a two-time medalist for the 69 kg class at the European Weightlifting Championships (2001 in Trenčín, Slovakia, and 2003 in Loutraki, Greece). Mirzayev made his official debut for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he hauled 327.5 kilograms in total for a ninth-place finish in the men's lightweight class (69 kg). Following his further successes from the European Championships, Mirzayev was considered a top medal contender for his division at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Israel Militosyan
Israel Militosyan (, born 17 August 1968) is an Armenian former weightlifter. He was awarded the Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR title in 1989. Early life Born in Leninakan, Armenian SSR (now Gyumri, Armenia), a city famous for its world class weightlifters, Militosyan took up weightlifting in 1980 under the guidance of cousin Vardan Militosyan and joined the Soviet national team in 1987. Career Militosyan was one of the top weightlifters of his era. He made his Olympic debut at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He won a silver medal in the lightweight (67.5 kg) class with a total of 337.5 kg, only 2.5 kg behind gold medalist Joachim Kunz. Count Andrey Artamonovich Matveev () (1666–1728) was a Russian statesman of the Petrine epoch best remembered as one of the first Russian ambassadors and Peter the Great's agent in London and The Hague. Andrey Matveyev was the son of the more famous Artamon Matveyev by a Scottish woman, Eudoxia Hamilton.
