1999 Pattaya Women's Open
The 1999 Pattaya Women's Open, also known as the Volvo Women's Open, was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts in Pattaya, Thailand. It was part of Tier IV of the 1999 WTA Tour. It was the 9th edition of the tournament and was held from 15 November through 22 November 1999, making it the final tournament of the year. Qualifier Magdalena Maleeva won the singles title. WTA Tier IV Tournaments
The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. Some of the tournaments became Tier V events between 1990 and 1992, and later from 2001 to 2005, before being integrated back into Tier IV. Wynne Prakusya (born 26 April 1981) is a former tennis player from Indonesia. Her first appearance in a professional tournament occurred in 1996, when she was 14 years old. Janet Lee ( zh, 李慧芝, born October 22, 1976) is a Taiwanese-American retired tennis player. She won three doubles titles during her professional career on the WTA Tour. Joannette Kruger (born 3 September 1973) is a former professional tennis player from Johannesburg, South Africa. Benjamas Sangaram (born 11 January 1975) is a former professional tennis player from Thailand. She represented Thailand at three Olympic Games, in 1992, 1996 and 2000. Biography Born in Chiang Mai, Sangaram first played for the Thailand Fed Cup team as a 16-year old in 1991. She appeared in a total of 21 ties during her Fed Cup career, mostly as a doubles player.
