1998–99 Perth Glory SC Season
The 1998–99 Perth Glory SC season was the club's third in the Australian National Soccer League (NSL) and the first where they made the finals series. Review and events In June 1998 the club announced that former East Germany manager Bernd Stange had been appointed as coach, replacing Gary Marocchi who had been sacked in April. Mich d'Avray, a former England under-21 international was appointed as Stange's assistant coach. The Glory opened the season with an eight-match unbeaten run, dropping points only to the Brisbane Strikers. The run was broken with a loss to Newcastle Breakers in December 1998. Despite winning only one match in December 1998 and January 1999, the club rallied to win 10 of the last eleven matches of the season to finish in third place on the table. Perth Glory Football Club is an Australian professional Association football, soccer club based in Perth, Perth, Western Australia. It competes in the country's premier men's competition, A-League Men, under Professional sports league organization#Systems around the world, licence from Australian Professional Leagues. Adelaide City FC
Adelaide City Football Club is a semi-professional soccer club based in Oakden, a north-eastern suburb of Adelaide. The club was a founding member of the now-defunct National Soccer League (NSL) and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues South Australia (NPL SA). The club was founded in 1946 by Adelaide's Italian community, who named the club Juventus. Gareth Naven
Gareth Naven (born 3 March 1969) is an Australian football coach and former player. He is currently the development officer at Football West and coach of Bayswater City SC in the NPL. Playing career Naven was born in 1969 in the English town of Wigan before his family moved to Perth, Western Australia. He was a junior with Gosnells but made his initial impact with Bayswater Inter in 1985. In the same year, he and his twin brother Craig were selected in the Australia Under-16 national team that reached the quarter-finals of the World Under-16 championship in China. In 1986 he received a scholarship to attend the Australian Institute of Sport. In 1987, Naven was a member of the Schoolboy Australia team that toured New Zealand. Marconi Stallions Football Club is an Australian semi-professional association football club based in Fairfield, New South Wales, Fairfield, Sydney, New South Wales. The club has been crowned Australian champion four times. The Stallions are the soccer team of Club Marconi, a social and sporting club founded in 1956 by Italian immigrants who settled in Sydney's western suburbs. Daniel John Hay (born 15 May 1975) is a retired New Zealand professional footballer who formerly managed the New Zealand men's national football team, New Zealand U-23, and New Zealand U-20. Canberra Cosmos Football Club was an Australian soccer club based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. It participated in the National Soccer League from the 1995/96 season until the end of the 2000/01 season, after which it folded, primarily due to financial difficulties.
