1998–99 Kent State Golden Flashes Men's Basketball Team
The 1998–99 Kent State Golden Flashes men's basketball team represented Kent State University as a member of the Mid-American Conference during the 1998–99 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by head coach Gary Waters, the Flashes played their home games at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent, Ohio. After finishing second in the MAC East standings, Kent State won the 1999 MAC men's basketball tournament, MAC tournament to receive the conference's automatic bid to the 1999 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament the first appearance in program history. Playing as the No. 11 seed in the East region, the team was beaten by No. 6 seed 1998–99 Temple Owls men's basketball team, Temple in the opening round. Gary Waters
Gary Steven Waters (born August 15, 1951) is an American college basketball coach and the former men's basketball head coach at Cleveland State University. Coaching career Kent State On April 3, 1996 Waters was named the 21st head coach at Kent State. On July 6, 2000 Waters signed a 6-year contract extension. Rutgers On April 6, 2001 Waters was named the 15th head coach at Rutgers. He previously coached at Rutgers University, guiding the Scarlet Knights to the NIT tournament final in 2004. Waters announced his resignation from Rutgers on March 1, 2006 and accepted a buyout from Rutgers worth about $550,000. He officially resigned after he coached his last game for Rutgers on March 16, 2006. Cleveland State Waters was named the 14th head basketball coach at Cleveland State University on April 6, 2006. Millett Hall
Millett Hall () is a basketball arena in Oxford, Ohio. It is home to the Miami University men's and women's basketball, and women's volleyball teams. It is also the home of the ROTC program and various university events. It is named after Miami University's 16th President John D. Millett. The original construction cost was approximately $7.5 million. It is located on the northern part of Miami's campus, near Yager Stadium (Miami University), Yager Stadium. The arena opened its doors on December 2, 1968, against Adolph Rupp's Kentucky Wildcats. A crowd of 9,135 saw the Wildcats win 86–77.
