1998–99 Juventus FC Season
The 1998–99 season was Juventus Football Club's 101st in existence and 97th consecutive season in the top flight of Italian football. Season summary Juventus endured their worst domestic season since 1990–91, largely due to injury woes plaguing their star players. Alessandro Del Piero picked up a serious knee injury in the final minutes of a 2–2 draw with Udinese on 8 November 1998. France's World Cup hero Zinedine Zidane was similarly plagued by injury. Having won the World Cup with France the previous July, Zidane promptly picked up a knee injury and further injured himself in November . Alessandro Del Piero (; born 9 November 1974) is an Italian former professional footballer who mainly played as a second striker, although he was capable of playing in several offensive positions. Rónald Paolo Montero Iglesias (born 3 September 1971) is a Uruguayan football manager and former player, who played as a central defender or left-back. Montero began his career in Uruguay with Peñarol in 1990 before moving to Italian side Atalanta in 1992. Zoran "Bata" Mirković ( sr-cyrl, Зоран Бата Мирковић, ; born 21 September 1971) is a retired Serbian footballer and current manager. Playing career Club career Mirković made his first appearance for FK Rad during the 1990–91 season. Ciro Ferrara (; born 11 February 1967) is an Italian former footballer and manager.
