The 1998 du Maurier Open women's doubles was the women's doubles event of the one hundred and ninth edition of the Canadian Open; a WTA Tier I tournament and the most prestigious women's tennis tournament held in Canada. Yayuk Basuki and Caroline Vis were the defending champions but lost in the final 6–3, 6–4 against Martina Hingis and Jana Novotná. Yayuk Basuki
Yayuk Basuki (born 30 November 1970) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player who is now a politician. She is the highest-ever ranked tennis player from Indonesia, having reached No. 19 in singles in the WTA rankings in October 1997. She retired from playing singles in 2000, but remained an active doubles player on the circuit until 2013. She sat in the Indonesian House of Representatives between 2014 and 2019. In January 2018, she was elected Chair of the Indonesian Olympian Association (IOA) for a four-year term. She unsuccessfully ran for re-election in 2019. Naoko Kijimuta ( Japanese: 雉子牟田 直子, ''Kijimuta Naoko'', born March 26, 1972) is a retired tennis player and winner of five professional doubles tournaments. She has been a representative of Japan in the Federation Cup. Nicole Pratt (born 5 March 1973) is a retired tennis player from Australia. Pratt was born in Mackay, Queensland. She is the middle sibling of five children of cane farmers and was taught to play by her father, George, who was a top junior player.
