1997–98 Atlético Madrid Season
The 1997–1998 campaign was the 92nd season in Atlético Madrid's history and their 63rd season in La Liga, the top division of Spanish football. Season summary Atlético Madrid failed to regain the title they had won in 1996 and finished the season in 7th place. One of the high points of the season was the club's run in the UEFA Cup, reaching the semi-finals. Striker Christian Vieri was the club's top scorer, scoring 24 goals in La Liga (he finished as the league's top scorer and was awarded the Pichichi Trophy) and 29 in all competitions, but transferred to Lazio (who knocked Atlético out of the UEFA Cup) at the end of the season. Club Atlético de Madrid, S.A.D. (; meaning "Athletic Club of Madrid"), commonly referred to as Atlético Madrid or simply Atlético, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid that plays in La Liga. Andrei Frascarelli (born 21 February 1973), sometimes known simply as Andrei, is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a defender. He moved clubs regularly during his 19 year career, which included spells at 14 clubs in four countries. He made 31 appearances in Spain's La Liga for Atlético Madrid. Andrei Frascarelli was a youth international for Brazil, and represented his country at the 1991 FIFA World Youth Championship in Portugal, where they finished as runners-up. José Luis Caminero
José Luis Pérez Caminero (born 8 November 1967) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Arguably one of the best Spanish footballers of the 1990s, he was able to play in any midfield position, in the middle or in the wings. Having appeared in 408 La Liga matches over 14 seasons (57 goals), he possessed a vast array of skills: dribble, shot and physique, and his career was almost exclusively associated with Valladolid and Atlético Madrid. Delfí Geli i Roura (born 22 April 1969) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a right-back, currently president of Girona. Club career Born in Salt, Girona, Catalonia, Geli began his professional career as a forward, while playing for hometown's Girona FC and FC Barcelona (he only appeared once for the latter's first team in La Liga, in a 0–0 home draw against Real Oviedo on 31 January 1990). Francisco Miguel Narváez Machón (born 26 April 1972), known as Kiko, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a centre-forward, mostly for Atlético Madrid. José María Romero Poyón (born 10 December 1978), known as José Mari, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a forward. Pedro Luis Jaro Reguero (born 22 February 1963) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Playing career After emerging through local CDC Moscardó's youth ranks, Madrid-born Jaro started his professional career with Cádiz CF in the 1983–84 season, playing once in an eventual La Liga relegation. Paulo Jorge dos Santos Futre (; born 28 February 1966) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a left winger. Milinko Pantić
Milinko Pantić (Serbian Cyrillic: Милинко Пантић; born 5 September 1966) is a Serbian retired footballer and current manager. Playing career Pantić spent the first six seasons of his professional career with FK Partizan between 1985 and 1991. He then moved on to Greek Alpha Ethniki league where he played until 1995 for Athens side Panionios.
