1997 French Open – Women's Doubles
Lindsay Davenport and Mary Joe Fernández were the defending champions, but played this year with different partners. Davenport teamed up with Jana Novotná and lost in third round to Conchita Martínez and Patricia Tarabini, while Fernández teamed up with Lisa Raymond, losing in the final. Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva won the title, defeating Fernández and Raymond 6–2, 6–3 in the final. It was the 6th French Open title, 16th Grand Slam title and 68th overall doubles title for Fernández, and the 6th French Open title, 17th Grand Slam title and 66th overall doubles title for Zvereva, in their respective careers. Gigi Fernández
Beatriz "Gigi" Fernández (born February 22, 1964) is a Puerto Rican former professional tennis player. Fernández won 17 Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major doubles titles and two Olympic gold medals representing the United States, and reached the List of WTA number 1 ranked doubles tennis players, world No. 1 ranking in doubles. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 17 in 1991. Since retiring from the professional tour in 1997 at the age of 33, Fernández has been a tennis coach and entrepreneur. Nathalie Tauziat
Nathalie Tauziat (born 17 October 1967) is a French former professional tennis player and coach. She was the runner-up in women's singles at the 1998 Wimbledon Championships and runner-up in the women's doubles at the 2001 US Open partnering Kimberly Po-Messerli. Ruxandra Dragomir
Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie (born 24 October 1972) is a retired tennis player from Romania. She won four singles and five doubles titles on the WTA Tour during her career. The right-hander reached her highest individual WTA ranking on 25 August 1997, when she became the No. 15 of the world. Between 2009 and 2013 she was the president of Romanian Tennis Federation. Elena Alexandrovna Likhovtseva ( ; born 8 September 1975) is a Kazakhstani-born Russian former tennis player. She turned professional in January 1992, at the age of 16. Together with Mahesh Bhupathi she won the Wimbledon Mixed doubles in 2002 and the Australian Open mixed-doubles championship with Daniel Nestor in 2007. Kimberly Po (born October 20, 1971) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. In her career, she won the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 2000, partnering Donald Johnson. Sabine Appelmans (born 22 April 1972) is a former professional tennis player from Belgium. She was Belgium's Fed Cup Captain (sports), captain from 2007 until 2011. Nana Smith (born Nana Miyagi ( Japanese: 宮城ナナ); 10 April 1971) is an American-born tennis player who played for Japan.
