1997–98 Isthmian League
The 1997–98 season was the 83rd season of the Isthmian League, which is an English football competition featuring semi-professional and amateur clubs from London, East and South East England. The league consisted of four divisions. Premier Division The Premier Division consisted of 22 clubs, including 18 clubs from the previous season and four new clubs: * Basingstoke Town, promoted as runners-up in Division One * Chesham United, promoted as champions of Division One * Gravesend & Northfleet, transferred from the Southern League * Walton & Hersham, promoted as third in Division One Kingstonian won the division and were promoted to the Football Conference to reach the highest level in the club history. The Isthmian League () is a regional Association football, football league covering Greater London, East of England, East and South East England, featuring mostly semi-professional clubs. Founded in 1905 by amateur clubs in the London area, the league now consists of 88 teams in four divisions: the Premier Division above its three feeder divisions, the North, South Central and South East divisions. Together with the Southern Football League, Southern League and the Northern Premier League, it forms the seventh and eighth levels of the English football league system. Dagenham () is a town in East London, England, within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Dagenham is centred east of Charing Cross. It was historically a rural parish in the Becontree Hundred of Essex, stretching from Hainault Forest in the north to the River Thames in the south. Dagenham remained mostly undeveloped until 1921, when the London County Council began construction of the large Becontree housing estate. The population significantly increased as people moved to the new housing in the early 20th century, with the parish of Dagenham becoming Dagenham Urban District in 1926 and the Municipal Borough of Dagenham in 1938. Meadow Park is a football ground in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, England. It is the home ground of Boreham Wood F.C. and Arsenal youth teams. Thurrock () is a unitary authority area with borough status in the ceremonial county of Essex, England. It lies on the north bank of the River Thames immediately east of London and has over of riverfront including the Port of Tilbury, the principal port for London.
