1995–96 San Jose State Spartans Men's Basketball Team
The 1995–96 San Jose State Spartans men's basketball team represented San Jose State University during the 1995–96 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans were led by seventh-year head coach Stan Morrison and played their home games at the Event Center Arena. SJSU was a member of the Big West Conference. The Spartans finished the season 13–17 overall, and 9–9 in the conference. During the season, San José State was invited and participated in the Illini Classic in Champaign, Illinois. San José State lost to Ball State and Southeast Missouri State to earn 4th place. In the postseason, San José State defeated Pacific, UC Irvine, and Utah State in the 1996 Big West Conference Men's Basketball Tournament to earn 1st place in Reno, Nevada. Stan Morrison
Stanley Mack Morrison (born October 15, 1939) is an American retired college basketball coach and athletic director. He was head men's basketball coach at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, from 1972 to 1979, University of Southern California (USC) from 1979 to 1986, and San Jose State University from 1989 to 1998. From 1986 to 1989 Morrison was the athletic director for the University of California, Santa Barbara's 21-sport program, helped raise significant funds annually for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, and served on the NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament Committee. He was the athletic director at the University of California, Riverside for 12 years until his retirement on August 15, 2011. The Pepperdine Waves men's basketball team is an American college basketball team that represents Pepperdine University in NCAA Division I, the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Selland Arena
Selland Arena is a multi-purpose arena built in 1966 that makes up part of a four-venue complex of the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center in Fresno, California. It is named after former Fresno mayor Arthur L. Selland and has had over 10 million people walk through its doors in its over 50-year history. The arena originally had a 6,582 seating capacity, but a expansion project in 1981 increased the seating to its current capacity of 10,132.
