1995–96 Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 1995–96 Washington Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Washington for the 1995–96 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by third-year head coach Bob Bender, the Huskies were members of the Pac-12 Conference, Pacific-10 Conference and played their home games on campus at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Seattle, Washington. The Huskies were overall in the regular season and in conference play, tied for fifth (later fourth) in the standings. Bob Bender
Robert Michael Bender (born April 28, 1957) is an American professional basketball coach, who last served an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association. Born in Quantico, Virginia, He attended Bloomington High School (Bloomington, Illinois), Bloomington High School in Bloomington, Illinois, where he was an All-American in basketball. Bender has the distinction of being the first (and until 2025 only) individual to play for different programs in two NCAA Championship games. He was a freshman on Bob Knight's undefeated 1975–76 Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team, 1976 Indiana team and played point guard at Duke from 1977 to 1980, including an appearance in the 1978 NCAA Division I basketball championship game, title game against 1977–78 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team, Kentucky. The Pacific Time Zone (PT) is a time zone encompassing parts of western Canada, the western United States, and western Mexico. Places in this zone observe standard time by subtracting eight hours from Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC−08:00). During daylight saving time, a time offset of UTC−07:00 is used. Breslin Student Events Center
The Jack Breslin Student Events Center is a multi-purpose arena at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. The arena opened in 1989, and is named for Jack Breslin, MSU alumnus, former athlete and administrator, who first began pushing for the arena in 1969. It is home to the Michigan State Spartans men's and women's basketball teams. Although it nominally contains 16,280 seats, the arena typically holds around 10,000 for most events depending on the floor or stage setup. The Breslin Center superseded Jenison Fieldhouse, which stands approximately to the northeast, which had served since 1939. In 2022 the women's volleyball team moved its home games from Jenison to the Breslin Center. The 1995–96 Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team represented Michigan State University in the 1995–96 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played their home games at Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan and were members of the Big Ten Conference. They were coached by Tom Izzo in his first year as head coach after 11 years as an assistant coach. The Spartans finished the season with a record of 16–16, 9–9 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They received a bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Washington before losing to Fresno State in the second round. The season marked the last time, as of 2023, that Michigan State did not finish the season with a winning record. 2002 Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2002 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament was played March 7–9 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The event was revived after eleven seasons without, and USC made its first appearance in the final. The champion of the tournament was Arizona, which received the Pac-10's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Ray Giacoletti
Raymond Bryan Giacoletti (born April 14, 1962) is a former men's basketball coach, having served as head coach at Drake University, and The University of Utah. He played collegiate basketball at Minot State University in North Dakota from 1980 to 1984, where he was a four-year letterman and a team captain for two seasons. He received his degree in physical education in 1985. Giacoletti was previously the head coach at North Dakota State University, Eastern Washington University, and the University of Utah. At Utah, he was a finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award in 2005, he was also named the 2005 Playboy National Coach of the Year. Giacoletti resigned as Drake coach on December 6, 2016.
