The 1994–1995 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 38th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Úrvalsdeild kvenna, then known as 1. deild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league in Iceland. The season started on 1 October 1994 and ended on 2 April 1995. Breiðablik women's basketball, Breiðablik won its first title by defeating KeflavÃk women's basketball, KeflavÃk 3–0 in the Finals. Competition format The participating teams played each opponent three times for a total of 24 games. The top four teams qualified for the championship playoffs while none were relegated to 1. deild kvenna (basketball), Division I due to vacance berths. NjarðvÃk Women's Basketball
NjarðvÃk () is a town in southwestern Iceland, on the peninsula of Reykjanes. As of 2009, its population was 4,400. History In 1995 it merged with the town of KeflavÃk and the village of Hafnir to form the new municipality of Reykjanesbær. The area is mentioned in the Icelandic Sagas, NjarðvÃk means "''bay of Njörðr''". Geography NjarðvÃk is located in the Reykjanes region of ReykjavÃk, adjacent to KeflavÃk. Basketball is a sport with five players on the court for each team at a time. Each player is assigned to different positions defined by the strategic role they play. Björg Hafsteinsdóttir
Björg Hafsteinsdóttir (born 22 October 1969) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She played 12 seasons in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, winning the Icelandic championship seven times and the Icelandic Basketball Cup eight times. In 2001 she was named one of the twelve players of the Icelandic basketball team of the 20th century by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. She was a six time Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team selection and was named the league's Player of the Year in 1990. She spent the vast majority of her career with KeflavÃk, outside of a few months in the fall of 1992 when she played for KR. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time.
