First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the International Cricket Council, Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. Tim Nielsen
Timothy John Nielsen (born 5 May 1968) is a former South Australia state cricketer and formerly the head coach of the Australian cricket team. Nielsen played 101 first-class matches for his state between 1990–91 and 1998–99. He is currently working with Pakistan Men's National cricket team as High Performance Coach. Nielsen was confirmed as John Buchanan's replacement as the coach of Australia on 5 February 2007. Peter Parker (umpire)
Peter Douglas Parker (born 20 July 1959) is an Australian Test cricket match umpire and former cricketer. He was a member of the International Panel of ICC Umpires between 2003 and 2008. Playing career Parker played junior representative cricket for Queensland before playing in Brisbane Grade Cricket. He gave up playing when he broke his thumb twice in a season. Darrell Hair
Darrell Bruce Hair (born 30 September 1952) is an Australian former Test match cricket umpire, from New South Wales. He was on the International panel of umpires from 2002 to 2003, before he, along with fellow Australian Simon Taufel, and New Zealander Billy Bowden, was appointed to the ICC Elite umpire panel. After an ICC board meeting discussed his actions in a Test match between Pakistan and England in 2006 it was decided he should not umpire matches involving the Test playing nations. He was restored to the Elite Panel by the ICC on 12 March 2008 and stood in the England v New Zealand Tests at Old Trafford in May and Trent Bridge in June 2008. Paul William Jackson (born 1 November 1961) is an Australian cricketer who represented Victoria and Queensland from 1985–86 until 1998–99. Paul Christopher Nobes (born 20 April 1964) is a former Australian first class cricketer. He was a right-handed top order batsman, usually playing at 3 or as an opener. Nobes attended Northfield High School in the northern suburbs of Adelaide from 1977–81. He started his state cricket career with South Australia in the 1988/89 season. After just one game he found himself facing the touring West Indian side and performed with distinction, making 95 in his second innings. Jason Gillespie
Jason Neil Gillespie (born 19 April 1975) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who played all three formats of the game. Jason Gillespie was appointed as the head coach for Pakistan's red-ball (Test) cricket team on April 28, 2024. However, his tenure was short-lived; he resigned in December 2024. Allan Border
Allan Robert Border (born 27 July 1955) is an Australian cricket commentator and former international cricketer. Martin Lloyd Love (born 30 March 1974) is a former Australian cricketer who played in five Test matches from 2002 to 2003. He was a right-handed batsman. Early life Love was educated at Mundubbera State School and Toowoomba Grammar School. He graduated with a degree in physiotheraphy from The University of Queensland in 1997.
