1994–95 Rangers F.C. Season
The 1994–95 season was the 115th season of competitive football by Rangers. Overview Rangers played a total of 42 competitive matches during the 1994–95 season. The club won the Premier Division with a commanding sixteen point lead over nearest challengers Motherwell. The cup competitions were not so successful as the side crashed out the Scottish Cup in the fourth round to Hearts, losing 4–2. In the League Cup the side was defeated 2–1 by Falkirk. The European campaign was over as soon as it began, the club was knocked out the UEFA Champions League in the first round by AEK Athens, losing 3–0 on aggregate. Rangers made three expensive signings at the start of the season in shape of defenders Basile Boli and Alan McLaren, as well as forward Brian Laudrup. Chris Vinnicombe (born 20 October 1970) is an English former professional footballer. Club career Exeter City and Rangers (1986–1994) Vinnicombe was a product of Exeter City's youth system, and made his professional debut for the club in 1989. After just four months with his first club, Scottish giants Rangers paid £150,000 for Vinnicombe on 3 November 1989. Gary Bollan (born 24 March 1973) is a Scottish professional football player and coach. He played for Dundee United (two spells), Rangers, Wolverhampton Wanderers (loan), St Johnstone, Livingston, Motherwell, Clyde, Brechin City and Carnoustie Panmure. He also played for the Scotland national under-21 football team. Alan McLaren
Alan James McLaren (born 4 January 1971, in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former footballer, who played for Heart of Midlothian and Rangers. Football career Club McLaren started his career with Hearts in 1987 and made over 180 appearances for the Tynecastle club. He moved to Rangers in October 1994 in a £2m part-exchange deal, with Dave McPherson moving the opposite direction. He made his debut against Old Firm rivals Celtic on 30 October 1994 in a 3–1 win at Hampden Park. He was forced to retire from football in 1998, aged 27, due to injury. His final appearance for Rangers was as captain in a 1–0 win over Dundee United in which Rangers secured their 9th title in row. William Marshall Thomson (10 February 1958 – February 2023) was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Thomson played for Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Dundee United, Clydebank, Motherwell, Rangers and Dundee. He played for Dundee United in the 1987 UEFA Cup Final and two Scottish Cup finals.
