1994–95 FIU Golden Panthers Men's Basketball Team
The 1994–95 FIU Golden Panthers men's basketball team represented Florida International University during the 1994–95 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers, led by fifth-year head coach Bob Weltlich, played their home games at Golden Panther Arena, and were members of Trans America Athletic Conference. They finished the season 11–19, 4–12 in TAAC play which landed them tied for 8th in the conference regular season standings. They made a surprise run to win the 1995 TAAC men's basketball tournament, TAAC tournament to secure the conference's automatic bid to the 1995 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament the first, and only, appearance in school history. Bob Weltlich
Bob Weltlich (born November 5, 1944) is an American former college basketball coach and author. Weltlich coached 22 seasons with a career record of 300–335. He was head coach at the University of South Alabama, Florida International University (FIU), University of Texas and University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Weltlich is one of only 19 coaches to lead three different programs to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Coaching career Indiana Weltlich got his degree in education from Ohio State University in 1967 and was set to teach. He met Army Black Knights men's basketball, Army coach and fellow OSU alum Bob Knight in Orrville, Ohio. Knight hired him as an assistant at Army, then took him to Indiana University, where in 1976 he helped coach a 32–0 team to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA title. Coleman Coliseum is a 15,383-seat multi-purpose arena in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on the campus of the University of Alabama. ExtraMile Arena (formerly BSU Pavilion and Taco Bell Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the western United States, on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. Addition Financial Arena (formerly known as CFE Arena and UCF Arena) is a sports and entertainment arena located near Orlando in Orange County, Florida, United States, on the main campus of the University of Central Florida.
