1994–95 BYU Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 1994–95 BYU Cougars men's basketball team represented Brigham Young University in the 1994–95 basketball season. Led by head coach Roger Reid, the Cougars finished second in the WAC regular season standings, and made their third tournament appearance under Reid. In the NCAA tournament, the Cougars, playing as the No. 8 seed in the Southeast region, were defeated by No. 9 seed Tulane to finish with an overall record of 22–10 (13–5 WAC). Roger Reid (basketball)
Roger L. Reid (born August 3, 1946) is an American former college basketball coach who most recently guided the Southern Utah University (SUU) men's basketball team. He served as head coach at Brigham Young University (BYU) from 1989 to 1996 and assistant coach for the NBA's Phoenix Suns. He has also coached at the high school, junior college and international levels. In addition, he played for former NBA coach Dick Motta at Weber State University. High school and college Reid attended Springville High School in Springville, Utah and was an all-state performer in both baseball and basketball. He went on to play both sports at the College of Eastern Utah and was recognized as a junior college All-American in baseball. Reid concluded his collegiate playing days at Weber State earning all conference honors in baseball both seasons he played and was also a key player for coach Dick Motta's Big Sky Conference championship team in basketball. The Pit (arena)
The Pit is an indoor arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving primarily as the home venue of the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball teams. The facility opened in 1966 as University Arena but gained the nickname "The Pit" due to its innovative subterranean design, with its playing floor below street level. The arena is located on the UNM South Campus and has a seating capacity of 15,411 for basketball and up to 13,480 for concerts, with 40 luxury suites and 365 club seats. The Pit has frequently hosted NCAA basketball tournament games, including the 1983 Final Four, which featured North Carolina State's upset win over Houston.
