1994 WAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1994 Western Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament was held March 9–12 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. defeated in the championship game, 73–66, to clinch their first WAC men's tournament championship. The Rainbow Warriors, in turn, received an automatic bid to the 1994 NCAA tournament. They were joined in the tournament by the conference's regular season champions, New Mexico, who received an at-large bid to the tournament. Format No changes were made to the tournament format from the previous year. The top six teams received byes into the quarterfinal round, leaving the lowest four-seeded teams to play in the first round. Teams were seeded based on regular season conference records. Delta Center
The Delta Center is an indoor venue in Salt Lake City. Opened in 1991, the arena is the home of the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Utah Mammoth of the National Hockey League (NHL). The arena has a seating capacity of 18,175 for basketball, up to 11,131 for ice hockey and indoor football, and 20,000 for concerts. It has 56 luxury suites and 668 club seats. Riley Wallace
Robert Riley Wallace (born October 25, 1941) is an American retired basketball coach. He spent most of his career coaching college basketball, and was the head coach of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors men's team from 1987 through 2007. Early life and college playing career Born in Alton, Illinois, Wallace graduated from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, Illinois in 1959. After high school, Wallace attended Centenary College of Louisiana and started at forward all three years on the Centenary Gentlemen varsity basketball team from 1960 to 1963. Wallace led Centenary in field goal percentage with at least 8 attempts per game (.450) as a sophomore in 1960–61 and rebounding (222 n the season, 8.5 per game) as a junior in 1961–62. Trevor Ruffin
Trevor Ruffin (born September 26, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player who played briefly in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The point guard played at the University of Hawaii from 1992 to 1994. While leading the Rainbow Warriors to a 1994 NCAA tournament appearance, Trevor set the school's single game individual scoring record with 42 points vs. the University of LouisvilleHe entered the NBA undrafted in 1994, where he played with the Phoenix Suns and the Philadelphia 76ers from 1994–1996. He played with the PAOK from Thessaloniki Greece in 1995. He was waived by the ABA's Buffalo Rapids/Silverbacks during the 2005–2006 season due to injury but returned as interim head coach in November 2006 following the resignation of Richard Jacob. The 1994 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball.
