The 1994 IIHF Women's World Championships was held April 11–17, 1994, at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, in the United States. The Canadian national women's ice hockey team, Team Canada won their third consecutive gold medal at the World Championships defeating the United States women's national ice hockey team, United States. Finland national women's ice hockey team, Finland picked up their third consecutive bronze medal, with a win over semifinal debutants, China national women's ice hockey team, China. Karyn Bye
Karyn Lynn Bye (born May 18, 1971) is a retired ice hockey player. She was the alternate captain of the 1998 Winter Olympics gold-medal winning United States Women's Hockey Team. In 1998, she was featured on a Wheaties box. She entered the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2011 and was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014. Geraldine Heaney
Geraldine Heaney (born October 1, 1967) is an Irish-Canadian ice hockey coach and former defenceman. She played 18 seasons and over 1,000 games with the Toronto Aeros organization, won six Ontario provincial championships and was named Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) most valuable defenceman on three occasions. The Aeros retired her jersey number 91 in 2006. Internationally, Heaney was a member of the Canadian national team in the first seven Women's World Championships, winning gold each time. Erin Hamlen (born October 26, 1971) is an American former ice hockey goaltender and the current head coach of the Merrimack Warriors women's ice hockey program in the Hockey East (HEA) conference of the NCAA Division I. She was among the first women to play professional ice hockey and, on October 30, 1993, she became the first woman to earn a victory in a professional hockey game as a goaltender, in the Toledo Storm's 6–5 win over the Dayton Bombers in the East Coast Hockey League. Manon Rhéaume (born February 24, 1972) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender. An Olympic silver medalist, she achieved a number of historic firsts during her career, including becoming the first woman to play in an exhibition game in any of the major North American pro-sports leagues. In 1992, Rhéaume signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL, appearing in preseason exhibition games in 1992 and 1993. Gretchen A. Ulion Silverman (born May 4, 1972) is an American ice hockey player. She won a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Stephanie O'Sullivan (born July 30, 1971) is a former American hockey player for the United States women's national ice hockey team between 1994 and 2000. While playing hockey for Providence College during the 1990s, O'Sullivan and her team were first at the 1993 ECAC tournament. Her 126 goals were in the top ten for ECAC Hockey during 2023. She continued to hold the Providence record of 127 assists during 2024. O'Sullivan was the 1992 Rookie of the Year and 1995 Player of the Year for ECAC.
