The 1993–94 Pilkington Cup was the 23rd edition of England's premier rugby union club competition at the time. Bath won the competition defeating Leicester in the final. Anglo-Welsh Cup
The Anglo-Welsh Cup (), was a cross-border rugby union knock-out cup competition that featured the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs and the four Welsh regions. It was a created as a replacement for the RFU Knockout Cup, which featured only English clubs. The competition was replaced by the Premiership Rugby Cup, involving only the 12 English Premiership clubs, beginning with the 2018–19 season. History Background RFU Knockout Cup From 1971 to 2005, English clubs played in the RFU Knockout Cup. At its formation, it was the highest honour that a club could win, as there were no nationally organised leagues until merit leagues were introduced in 1984, followed by the full national league pyramid in 1987. Richard Hill (rugby Union Born 1961)
Richard Hill (born 4 May 1961 in Birmingham) is a rugby union coach and former player. He won 29 international caps for England. Biography Born in Birmingham, Hill was educated at Bishop Wordsworth's Grammar School in Salisbury, and Exeter University. His namesake, Richard Hill, who was a flanker in the England team that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003 also attended Bishop Wordsworth's School and both played for Salisbury Rugby Football Club. Early successes at Schools Level One of Richard's early successes in 1980 was winning the Wiltshire Schools U18 Sevens tournament with Salisbury's Boys Grammar school Bishop Wordsworth's defeating Swindon's St. Joseph's Comprehensive Roman Catholic School at the Headlands School in Wiltshire. Jack Rowell
Jack Rowell OBE (1 November 1936 – 1 July 2024) was an English rugby union coach and executive. He was coach of Bath and England. Rugby career Playing Rowell played as a Lock for Hartlepool Rovers and Middlesbrough RUFC. He was injured in trials for Oxford University RFC and was recommended not to play again, but restarted playing in his late 20s at Gosforth RFC. Coaching From 1972 Rowell coached Gosforth, leading them to victory in the John Player Cup in 1975/76 and 1976/77, before his business career took him to the South West. Between 1978 and 1994 Rowell coached Bath during their golden era, winning eight John Player/Pilkington Cups and five League Championships. Rowell was the coach of the England rugby team from 1994 to 1997. Stephen Oziegebe Ojomoh, known as Steve Ojomoh (born 25 May 1970 in Benin City), is a Nigerian-born English former rugby union footballer and a current coach. He played as a flanker. Club career Ojomoh played for Moseley, Bath, and Gloucester in England, Overmach Parma in Italy, and Newport in Wales. During the 1990s, he won 10 trophies with Bath including 5 Premiership Rugby league titles. David Ivor Walter Hilton (born 3 April 1970) is a former professional rugby union player who played as a prop. Although he was born in England, he qualified to play for the Scotland national team by virtue of a grandfather who he believed was born in Scotland; however, it later emerged that his grandfather's birth was registered in England. Despite this, Hilton completed a residency period to restore his Scottish eligibility, and he went on to win a total of 42 caps in a seven-year international career. At club level, he played for Bath, Glasgow and Bristol. Richard Graham Reed Dawe (born 4 September 1959 in Tavistock) is a former English rugby union footballer and the former coach of Plymouth Albion. He played for Bath Rugby, Sale Sharks, Plymouth Albion and Launceston. Dawe earned 5 caps for England, from 1987 to 1995. He made his debut in the Five Nations in 1987. He was selected for the Rugby World Cup finals in 1987, playing a single match, and again in 1995 when he played against Manu Samoa. That was his last England cap, earned at the age of 36, his international career being limited by the presence in the England team of Brian Moore. Victor Eriakpo Ubogu (born 8 September 1964) is a retired rugby player who played for Bath and England national team. Travel to England and schooling In 1977, after arriving in the United Kingdom from Lagos, Nigeria, he attended West Buckland School in Devon. He received the school's top award, the Fortescue Medal. While at the school, he played for England Under-18s. He went on to the University of Birmingham to study chemical engineering. While at university, he played for Moseley. Nigel Charles Redman (born 16 August 1964) is a former professional rugby union player who played as a lock for Bath and the England national team. Born in Cardiff, Redman left school at the age of 15 to become an apprentice electrician. He began his rugby career aged 15 playing for Weston-super-Mare RFC. He made his England debut in November 1984 vs the Australia national rugby union team at Twickenham, losing 19-3.
