Venezuelan Primera División
The Primera División (; ), or Liga Venezolana (; ) is the top-flight professional football league of Venezuela. It was created in 1921 and turned professional in 1957. It is organized by the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol. Format Starting in the 2020 season, 20 teams play in a home-and-away round-robin tournament, with the top eight teams advancing to the semi-final stage. At the semi-final stage, the eight teams are divided into two groups of four teams each, facing the other teams in their group twice. The two group winners advance to the Serie Final to decide the league champions. Llaneros De Guanare
A (, 'plainsman') is a Venezuelan and Colombian herder. The name is taken from the Llanos grasslands occupying eastern Colombia and western-central Venezuela. During the Spanish American wars of independence, lancers and cavalry served in both armies and provided the bulk of the cavalry during the war. They were known for being skilled riders who were in charge of all the tasks related to livestock and other ranch-related activities. The historical figure emerged in the 17th century until its disappearance at the end of the 19th century, with the Andean hegemony and the birth of the Venezuelan oil industry. Portuguesa Fútbol Club, usually known simply as Portuguesa, is a Venezuelan professional football club based in Acarigua, that competes in the Primera División. History The club was founded on 10 April 1972, in Acarigua in the northern part of the state of Portuguesa. Rivalries The Vintage Clásico The encounter between Portuguesa and Estudiantes de Mérida is one of the most classic and oldest of Venezuelan football, they are two of the most traditional clubs in the country. Deportivo Galicia Fútbol Club (later Galicia de Aragua) was a traditional Football (soccer), football club from Venezuela that competed in Segunda División Venezolana. History Founded in Caracas, the club moved, in 2002, to Maracay, in the state of Aragua (state), Aragua, when its name changed to Galicia de Aragua, playing their home games at the Giuseppe Antonelli stadium in Maracay. Coached by the Uruguayan national Carlos MarÍa Ravel, the team switched from their traditional blue and white colours to the state's yellow and red and changed their name to Galicia de Aragua. At the end of the 2001–02 season, Deportivo Galicia was relegated to the Venezuelan Segunda Division. Monagas Sport Club is a Venezuelan professional football team competing at the top level, the Primera División Venezolana. It is based in Maturín. Their home stadium is the Estadio Monumental de Maturín.
