1992–93 Tulane Green Wave Men's Basketball Team
The 1992–93 Tulane Green Wave men's basketball team represented Tulane University in the 1992–93 college basketball season. This was head coach Perry Clark's fourth season at Tulane. The Green Wave competed in the Metro Conference and played their home games at Devlin Fieldhouse. They finished the season 22–9 (9–3 in Metro play) and finished second in the conference regular season standings. Tulane lost in the quarterfinal round of the Metro Conference tournament, but received an at-large bid to the 1993 NCAA tournament. The Green Wave defeated Kansas State in the opening round before losing to Florida State in the round of 32. Perry Clark
Perry Clark (born December 4, 1951) is an American former college basketball coach and the former head men's basketball coach at the University of Miami. He previously served as head coach of Tulane University, and later at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. From June 2013, until his retirement in June 2020, Clark was an assistant coach for the University of South Carolina basketball team. Clark has over 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 15 years combined as head coach at both Tulane University and the University of Miami (Florida). As a head coach, Clark owned a 304–270 (.530) record, including seven 20-win seasons and nine postseason appearances (3 NCAA, 4 NIT) and won the Metro Conference championship in 1992. The 1992 National Coach of the Year, he was a two-time Metro Conference Coach of the Year (1991, 1992). Preseason NIT
The NIT Season Tip-Off (National Invitation Tournament) is an annual college basketball tournament that takes place in November of each year, toward the beginning of the season. The first two rounds are held at campus sites, while the semifinals and the finals are held during the week of Thanksgiving in Brooklyn, NY. 2020's tournament was to be held at Amway Center in Orlando, FL, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused the NCAA to cancel it. The tournament, which is a part of the regular season for all participating colleges, began in 1985 as the Preseason NIT, so-called in order to distinguish it from the post-season NIT. In 2005, the NCAA purchased the Men's Preseason and Postseason NIT and renamed the November tournament the NIT Season Tip-Off.
