1991–92 Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team
The 1991–92 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team represented Iowa State University during the 1991–92 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were coached by Johnny Orr, who was in his 12th season. They played their home games at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa. They finished the season 21–13, 5–9 in Big Eight play to finish tied for seventh place. They upset third-seeded Missouri in the 1992 Big Eight conference tournament quarterfinals before falling to Oklahoma State in the semifinals. Despite a 5–9 conference record, the Cyclones qualified for the 1992 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, upsetting seventh seed UNC Charlotte, 76–74 in the East Regional first round before falling to second seeded Kentucky. Johnny Orr (basketball, Born 1927)
John Michael Orr (June 10, 1927 – December 30, 2013) was an American basketball player and coach, best known as the head coach of men's basketball at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of Michigan, and at Iowa State University. In the 1975–76 season, Orr was named National Coach of the Year. Early life and playing career Orr was born in Taylorville, Illinois or Yale, Kansas and grew up in Taylorville during the Great Depression. Orr attended Taylorville High School under coach Dolph Stanley and in his senior year (1944) led the ''Tornadoes'' to a state championship and a 45–0 record, the first team to ever finish a season undefeated in the Illinois High School Association's history. In 2007, Orr was voted one of the " 100 Legends of the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament," recognizing his superior performance in his appearance in the tournament. Loren Meyer
Loren Henry Meyer (born December 30, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player who played three seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round (24th pick overall) of the 1995 NBA draft. Biography Meyer was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He attended Ruthven-Ayrshire High School in Ruthven, Iowa. A 6'10", 257-pound center who played college basketball at Iowa State University, Meyer played in three NBA seasons for the Mavericks, Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets. In his NBA career, Meyer played in a total of 140 games and scored a total of 645 points, averaging 4.6 points per game. The UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Western Athletic Conference. The Hy-Vee Classic consisted of games between Iowa's four NCAA Division I men's basketball teams: Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Drake. The American University of Puerto Rico (AUPR) was a private university in Puerto Rico with campuses in Bayamón and Manatí. The university was founded in 1963 as the American Business College, and offered undergraduate studies in arts, business administration, education, and sciences, and graduate studies in criminal justice. AUPR was accredited by the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Its founder, Juan B. Nazario Negrón presided over the University for 48 years and died in 2011. The Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team represents Creighton University of the NCAA Division I college basketball.
