1991–92 Idaho Vandals Men's Basketball Team
The 1991–92 Idaho Vandals men's basketball team represented the University of Idaho during the 1991–92 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Members of the Big Sky Conference, the Vandals were led by second-year head coach Larry Eustachy and played their home games on campus at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. The Vandals were overall in the regular season and in conference play, tied for third place in the league conference tournament in Missoula, the Vandals defeated Boise State by nineteen points in the opening round, but lost to host Montana by seventeen in the semifinals. Larry Eustachy
Larry Robert Eustachy (born December 1, 1955 in Alameda, California) is an American college basketball coach, most recently the head coach of the Colorado State Rams He was previously the head coach at Idaho and Eustachy was the AP Coach of the Year in 2000 after leading Iowa State to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. Coaching career Idaho At age 34, Eustachy became a head coach at Idaho in April 1990, succeeding Kermit Davis, who left the Palouse for Texas A&M after consecutive Big Sky titles and NCAA tournament appearances. He had been an assistant in Moscow for a season ( 1986–87) under Tim Floyd, and Eustachy's first-year salary as head coach was $52,500. In his third year, he led the Vandals to the regular season championship in 1993, but they lost the tourney title game at home. Dahlberg Arena
Dahlberg Arena is a 7,321-seat multi-purpose arena in the western United States, located on the campus of the University of Montana in Missoula. The arena opened in 1953 and is home to the Montana Grizzlies and Lady Griz basketball teams. It has hosted the Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament five times: 1978, 1991, 1992, 2000, and 2012. Opened in late 1953, the field house was named for newly retired track coach Harry Adams in June 1966. In the 1980s, Adams Field House seated over 9,000 and was known as the toughest arena for visiting teams in the Big Sky due to its belligerent crowd and (at one time) tartan flooring, and also enjoyed a national reputation. Steven Theodore Barnes (born June 22, 1957) is an American basketball coach who last served as the associate head coach at Colorado State University. Early life and education Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Barnes grew up in North Carolina before moving to Arcadia, California and graduating from Arcadia High School in 1975. Barnes first played junior college basketball at Citrus College before transferring to Chico State in 1977.
