1990–91 Purdue Boilermakers Men's Basketball Team
The 1990–91 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team represented Purdue University during the 1990–91 college basketball season. Led by head coach Gene Keady, the Boilermakers earned the #7 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA tournament, but were defeated in the first round by Temple, finishing the season with a 17–12 record (9–9 Big Ten). Gene Keady
Lloyd Eugene Keady (born May 21, 1936) is an American Hall of Fame basketball coach. He is best known for his 25 years serving as the head men's basketball coach at Purdue University in Indiana. In his tenure leading the Boilermakers from 1980 to 2005, he went to the NCAA Tournament seventeen times, twice advancing to the Elite Eight. Personal life Keady was born in Larned, Kansas on May 21, 1936. He graduated from Larned High School. He had two children with his first wife. He married his second wife, Patricia, in 1981, and adopted her daughter. They were married until her death in 2009. He has been married since 2012 to Kathleen Petrie. Playing career Kansas State Keady's father instilled in him a passion for sports. This became evident as Keady was a four-sport athlete at Garden City Community College, Garden City Junior College in Garden City, Kansas. Stegeman Coliseum
Stegeman Coliseum, formerly known as Georgia Coliseum, is a 10,523-seat multi-purpose arena in Athens, Georgia, United States. The arena opened in 1964 in honor of Herman Stegeman. It is home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs basketball and gymnastics teams. It was also the venue of the rhythmic gymnastics and preliminary indoor volleyball matches during the 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as the 1989, 1995, and 2008 NCAA gymnastics championships. As a multi-purpose facility, the Coliseum also hosted a variety of other kinds of events, including many large indoor rock concerts during its early history, as well as the university's Graduate School commencement exercises. Jimmy Oliver (basketball)
Jimmy Allen Oliver (born July 12, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player who played several seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round (39th pick overall) of the 1991 NBA draft. College career Jimmy "Slice" Oliver attended Community College for one year and then transferred to Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana and played under head coach Gene Keady. The 6'6", 208 lb guard-forward appeared in 31 games in his sophomore season, playing behind Center Steve Scheffler and alongside guard Matt Painter. He averaged 5.3 points while averaging 18.2 minutes per game in his first eligible season. Jimmy started his junior season out receiving more minutes and improved his shooting percentage to nearly 50%, while also improving his points average to 8 a game.
