1990–91 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Men's Basketball Team
The 1990–91 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers men's basketball team represented Coastal Carolina University during the 1990–91 college basketball season. This was head coach Russ Bergman's third season at Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers competed in the Big South Conference and played their home games at Kimbel Arena. They finished the season 24–8, 13–1 in Big South play to capture the regular season championship. The Chanticleers won the 1991 Big South Conference men's basketball tournament to advance to face Jackson State in a play-in game for the right to advance to the NCAA tournament. Coastal Carolina defeated Jackson state to earn an automatic bid to the 1991 NCAA tournament as No. 15 seed in the Southeast Region, marking the school's first ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. Russ Bergman
Russ Bergman (born September 13, 1947) is an American former college basketball player and coach. Bergman played collegiately at LSU, and would go on to be an interim basketball coach at Appalachian State, and head coach of Coastal Carolina. Playing career Bergman was a 4-year scholarship player for the LSU Tigers. He played under Press Maravich and was roommates with the legendary Pete Maravich. Coaching career Bergman would start his coaching career as an assistant at Appalachian State, working under his coach at LSU (Press Maravich) in 1972. He would later become the interim head coach at App State following Maravich stepping down in the middle of the 1974–75 season. Reynolds Coliseum
William Neal Reynolds Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena located in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, on the campus of North Carolina State University. The arena was built to host a variety of events, including agricultural expositions and NC State basketball games. It is now home to all services of ROTC and several Wolfpack teams, including women's basketball, women's volleyball, women's gymnastics, and men's wrestling. The university named the court in Reynolds "Kay Yow Court" on February 16, 2007, with the assistance of a substantial donation from the Wolfpack Club. Breslin Student Events Center
The Jack Breslin Student Events Center is a multi-purpose arena at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. The arena opened in 1989, and is named for Jack Breslin, MSU alumnus, former athlete and administrator, who first began pushing for the arena in 1969. It is home to the Michigan State Spartans men's and women's basketball teams. Although it nominally contains 16,280 seats, the arena typically holds around 10,000 for most events depending on the floor or stage setup. The Breslin Center superseded Jenison Fieldhouse, which stands approximately to the northeast, which had served since 1939. In 2022 the women's volleyball team moved its home games from Jenison to the Breslin Center. Ramsey Regional Activity Center is a 7,826-seat multi-purpose arena in Cullowhee, in the U.S. state of North Carolina, and is home to the Western Carolina University Catamounts basketball and volleyball teams.
