1990 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 1990 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 100th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. The championship began on 15 September 1990 and ended on 14 October 1990. Clonoulty-Rossmore were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Kilruane MacDomaghs at the quarter-final stage. On 14 October 1990, Holycross-Ballycahill won the title after a 0–13 to 0–10 defeat of Cashel King Cormacs in the final at Semple Stadium. It was their fourth championship title overall and their first title since 1954. It remains their last championship title. Holycross-Ballycahill's Stephen Dwan was the championship's top scorer with 2-20. Loughmore-Castleiney is an ecclesiastical parish in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly. It is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. The club incorporates many of clubs that existed in the parishes at the time. A forerunner to the MacDonaghs club was the famous De Wets formed in 1900. Pat McGrath (Tipperary Hurler)
Pat McGrath (born 1961) is an Irish retired hurler and Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career with the Tipperary senior teams in both codes spanned nine seasons from 1981 to 1989. Born in Loughmore, County Tipperary, McGrath was raised in a family that had a strong affinity for Gaelic games. His father, Mick McGrath, and his uncles, enjoyed county championship success with the Loughmore–Castleiney club in the 1950s. McGrath attended Rockwell College while simultaneously coming to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Loughmore–Casteiney teams. As a dual player at senior level, he won a total of five county championship medals. McGrath made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for both Tipperary minor teams. He enjoyed three championship seasons as a dual player with the minor teams before subsequently joining the under-21 teams with whom he won back-to-back All-Ireland medals in 1980 and 1981. Tony Lanigan (hurler)
Tony Lanigan (born 1968) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Holycross–Ballycahill and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Lanigan first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Holycross–Ballycahill club. He won a divisional title in the minor grade in 1984, the same year he won a special county title as a schoolboy with Thurles Vocational School. Lanigan eventually progressed onto the club's senior team and won a Tipperary SHC title in 1990 after beating Cashel King Cormacs in the final. He also won four Mid Tipperary SHC titles between 1985 and 1999. At inter-county level, had a two-year tenure with the Tipperary minor hurling team, however, Cork was the dominant team in the championship at the time. Thomas McGrath (born 1956) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Loughmore–Catsleiney as a dual player and was also a member of the Tipperary senior football team. Career McGrath first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Loughmore–Catsleiney club. He won numerous divisional titles in both codes a minor and under-21 level before winning Tipperary U21AFC titles in 1974 and 1976. By that stage McGrath had also joined the club's senior teams in both codes. He won five Tipperary SFC titles between 1977 and 1992, while he was also a member of the Loughmore team that won the Tipperary SHC title in 1988. Thomas Gerard Williams (born 1957) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Kilruane MacDonaghs and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Williams first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Kilruane MacDonaghs club. He was part of the club's under-21 hurling team that won four consecutive Tipperary Under-21AHC, while he also won a Tipperary U21AFC title. Williams eventually progressed onto the club's senior team and was at right wing-forward on the Kilruane MacDonaghs team that won the All-Ireland Club Championship title in 1986. At inter-county level, Williams never played at minor or under-21 levels. His performances at club level earned a call-up to the senior team in 1986. West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Tipperary Co-Op West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the West Tipperary Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1930 for senior hurling teams in West Tipperary, Ireland. The championship has always been played using a knock-out format. The West Tipperary Championship was, until recent times, an integral part of the wider Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship.
