1990 Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1990 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament was played March 8–11 at the University Activity Center in Tempe, Arizona, on the campus of Arizona State University. The final game featured UCLA and Arizona, the only two teams that had won previous Pac-10 tournaments. The champion of the tournament for the third consecutive year was Arizona, which received the Pac-10's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Lute Olson
Robert Luther "Lute" Olson (September 22, 1934 – August 27, 2020) was an American basketball coach, who was inducted into both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats men's basketball, Arizona Wildcats men's team for 25 years. He was also head coach for the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball, Iowa Hawkeyes for nine years and Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball, Long Beach State 49ers for one season. Known for player development and great recruiting, many of his former players have gone on to have impressive careers in the NBA. On October 23, 2008, Olson announced his retirement from coaching. Jud Buechler
Judson Donald Buechler (born June 19, 1968) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who was recently an assistant coach for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was part of the Chicago Bulls during their three consecutive championship seasons between 1996 and 1998. Early life and college career Buechler grew up in Poway, California, and attended Poway High School, where he was a top basketball recruit as well as a Top-50 men's volleyball prospect. He was a basketball player for all four seasons, and an All-American volleyball player at the University of Arizona, where he earned the nickname "The Judge". The 2002 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament was played March 7–9 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The event was revived after eleven seasons without, and USC made its first appearance in the final. The champion of the tournament was Arizona, which received the Pac-10's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Pac-12 Conference men's basketball tournament, otherwise known as the Pac-12 tournament, was the annual concluding tournament for the NCAA college basketball in the Pac-12, taking place in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. The first tournament was held in 1987 for the Pac-10 conference. It ended after four seasons. The conference did not have a conference tournament until it was started again in 2002. For a time, the future of the Pac-12 Conference itself as with the tournament after the 2024 tournament was uncertain, since the conference only had two remaining members at the start of the 2024–25 academic year. In sports (especially in North America), a three-peat is winning three consecutive championships or tournaments. The term, a portmanteau of the words ''three'' and ''repeat'', originated with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association, during their unsuccessful campaign for a third consecutive championship during the 1988–89 season, having won the previous two NBA finals. The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference in the Western United States. 1990 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1990 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the NCAA Division I men's basketball national champion for the 1989-1990 season. It began on March 15, 1990, and ended with the championship game on April 2 in Denver, Colorado. A total of 63 games were played. UNLV won the national title with a 103–73 victory in the final game over Duke. In doing so, UNLV set the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament record for largest margin of victory in a championship game.
