The 1990 FIFA World Cup qualification UEFA Group 1 was a UEFA qualifying group for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. The group comprised Bulgaria, Denmark, Greece and Romania. The group was won by Romania, who qualified for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Runners-up Denmark failed to qualify as their record was the worst of the runners-up from the groups containing only four teams. George Smith (referee)
George Smith (14 October 1943 – 13 May 2019) was a Scottish people, Scottish football referee (association football), referee. He is best known for refereeing at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, where he officiated the game between Austria national football team, Austria and Czechoslovakia national football team, Czechoslovakia, handing out seven Penalty card#Yellow card, yellow cards in what was a rough game. Smith took charge of the 1980 Scottish Cup Final, 1980 (Celtic v Rangers), 1988 Scottish Cup Final, 1988 (Celtic v Dundee United) and 1990 Scottish Cup Final, 1990 (Aberdeen v Celtic) Scottish Cup finals. Ayan Sadakov
Ayan Faikov Sadakov () (26 September 1961 – 1 July 2017) was a Bulgarian footballer and a key member of the Bulgarian national team in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Club career Sadakov began his club career at the local Lokomotiv Plovdiv. For "The Smurfs" he played eleven seasons, before transferring to Portugal's C.F. Os Belenenses in 1989. Two years later he return in Lokomotiv and played two years, before signed with Botev Plovdiv in summer 1994. International Sadakov made 80 appearances for Bulgaria, between 1981 and 1991 and scored 9 goals. He played in four matches for his country at 1986 FIFA World Cup. Coaching career Sadakov had been appointed on September 29, 2008 as a manager of Lokomotiv Plovdiv a second time to replace Dragan Kanatlarovski. Personal life In 2014, Sadakov announced he was diagnosed with ALS. He died on 1 July 2017, aged 55. Lars Elstrup
Lars Dahl Elstrup (born 24 March 1963) is a Danish former professional footballer, who played as a forward for a number of Danish clubs, as well as Dutch club Feyenoord and English club Luton Town. He played 34 matches and scored 13 goals for the Denmark national team, and was part of the Denmark team which won the 1992 European Championship. Club career Born in the village of Råby, 20 km NE of Randers, Lars Elstrup made his senior debut for local club Randers Sportsklub Freja in 1982. Over the next four seasons, he became a proven goalscorer in Danish football's mostly 2nd highest divisions, and before the 1986 season Elstrup moved to the defending champions Brøndby IF. He played just seven league games for Brøndby, scoring twice, before he moved abroad to play for Dutch club Feyenoord. Steaua Stadium (), informally also known as Ghencea Stadium, was a association football, football stadium in Bucharest, Romania, which served as the home of CSA Steaua București (football), Steaua București.
