These are the official results of the Men's long jump event at the 1990 European Championships in Split, Yugoslavia, held at Stadion Poljud on 29 and 30 August 1990. There were a total number of 22 participating athletes. Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. Rules At the elite level, competitors run down a runway (usually coated with the same All-weather running track, rubberized surface as running tracks, crumb rubber or vulcanized rubber, known generally as an all-weather track) and jump as far as they can from a wooden or synthetic board, 20 centimetres or 8 inches wide, that is built flush with the runway, into a pit filled with soft damp sand. If the competitor starts the leap with any part of the foot past the foul line, the jump is declared a foul and no distance is recorded. ...

Konstadinos Koukodimos
Konstandinos "Kostas" Koukodimos (, born 14 September 1969 in Melbourne) is a retired Greek long jumper and New Democracy politician, who served as the mayor of Katerini, Macedonia from 2019 to 2023. He was named the 1991 Greek Male Athlete of the Year. His family has hails from Agios Dimitrios, Pieria. Koukodimos, who was raised in Pieria, Central Macedonia, is best known for his bronze medal at the 1994 European Championships. His personal best is 8.36 metres, achieved in June 1994 in Khania. He is also a politician and former member of the Hellenic Parliament, elected for New Democracy in the Pieria constituency in 2007. In January 2008, the journalist Makis Triantafyllopoulos revealed that Koukodimos was calling him and other journalists of the Proto Thema newspaper to cover the Christos Zachopoulos scandal. Stewart St. Ledger Faulkner (born 19 February 1969) is a male British retired athlete who competed in the men's long jump and appeared at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Biography He was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire to parents of Jamaican-Cuban descent and was a member of Birchfield Harriers. Although his career was plagued by severe tarsal tunnel syndrome (a trapped nerve in his take off foot), he achieved relative success early in his track life. After winning a silver medal at the European Junior Championships in Birmingham in 1987, he went on to represent Great Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where he just missed reaching the final. Robert Emmiyan
Robert Emmiyan (; born 15 February 1965) is a retired long jumper who represented the USSR and Armenia. He is the fourth best long jumper in history. His personal best jump of 8.86 metres, which he achieved in Tsaghkadzor in May 1987, is the current European record. Emmiyan received the Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR award in 1987.
