1987–88 Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 1987–88 Washington Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Washington for the 1987–88 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by third-year head coach Andy Russo, the Huskies were members of the Pacific-10 Conference and played their home games on campus at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, Washington. The Huskies were overall in the regular season and in conference play, tied for last in the standings. In the Pac-10 tournament at Tucson, Washington was seeded tenth and defeated seventh seed Arizona State by fourteen points in the opening round, then lost to second seed Oregon State by nineteen points in the quarterfinals. McKale Center
McKale Memorial Center is an athletic arena in the southwest United States, located on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. As the home of the university's Wildcats basketball team of the Big 12 Conference, it is primarily used for basketball, but also has physical training and therapy facilities. Its construction is marked with a large copper cap that has oxidized brown. In the 1960s, it was recognized that the Wildcats' basketball venue, Bear Down Gymnasium, was outdated and in need of replacement. Major planning for the new facility began in 1966. During construction, the Wildcats briefly considered playing some of its 1971–72 home schedule in the then-newly completed 8,000-seat arena at the Tucson Convention Center, but eventually declined, remaining in Bear Down Gym until the new venue was ready. The 1988 Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament was played March 10–13 at McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona, on the University of Arizona campus.
