Run Rate
In cricket, the run rate (RR), or runs per over (RPO), is the average number of runs a batting side scores per over. It includes all runs made by the batting side in the innings to that point of the game, both the runs scored by the batsmen and extras conceded by the bowling team. Values What counts as a good run rate depends on the nature of the pitch, the type of match and the level of the game. A Test match held over five days typically has a lower run rate than a limited-overs game, because batsmen adopt a more cautious approach. In recent years, the average Test run rate has been between 3 and 3.5 runs per over, sometimes even lower whereas in limited overs cricket the batsmen must adopt a more gung-ho approach in order to achieve the necessary score to win. Dilip Vengsarkar
Dilip Balwant Vengsarkar (born 6 April 1956) is a former Indian cricketer and a cricket administrator. He was considered to have a very good drive. Along with Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath, he was a key player in the Indian batting line up in the late 70s and early 80s. He was a member of the Indian team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Vengsarkar also led the national side to 1988 Asia Cup victory. He was also a part of the Indian squad which won the 1985 World Championship of Cricket. He went on to play until 1992. At the pinnacle of his career, Vengsarkar was rated as the best batsman in the Coopers and Lybrand rating (a predecessor of the PWC ratings) and he held the number one slot for 21 months until 2 March 1989. Andrew John Pycroft (born 6 June 1956) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer who played in 3 Test cricket, Test matches and 20 One Day Internationals from 1983 to 1992. Domestic career He played for Rhodesia cricket team, Rhodesia prior to Zimbabwe's independence. He also represented the Zimbabwe national cricket team, Zimbabwean team (1980 onwards) and the Western Province cricket team, Western Province in the South African domestic competition. Maninder Singh (cricketer)
Maninder Singh (born 13 June 1965) is a former Indian cricket player and a cricket commentator. He represented India in 35 Test matches and 59 One Day Internationals. A slow left-arm orthodox spin, Maninder was considered the heir apparent to Bishan Singh Bedi, who then held the record as India's leading spinner in terms of wickets. Kenneth Robert Rutherford (born 26 October 1965) is a former New Zealand cricketer who enjoyed a ten-year career with the national team, and was captain for a period in the 1990s. He is the 50th ODI cap for New Zealand. Family Rutherford's elder brother Ian Rutherford also played first-class cricket as a batsman for Otago from 1974–75 to 1983–84. Dipak Narshibhai Patel (born 25 October 1958) is a Kenyan-born former New Zealand cricketer, who played 37 Test matches and 75 One Day Internationals for the New Zealand cricket team. David Shepherd (umpire)
David Robert Shepherd (27 December 1940 – 27 October 2009) was a first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Gloucestershire, and later became one of the cricket world's best-known umpires. He stood in 92 Test matches, the last of them in June 2005, the most for any English umpire. He also umpired 172 ODIs, including three consecutive World Cup finals in 1996, 1999 and 2003. Early life Shepherd was born in Bideford in Devon. His father Herbert was a sub-postmaster, having earlier worked in the Merchant Navy.
