1986–87 Real Madrid CF Season
The 1986–87 season was Real Madrid Club de Fútbol's 85th season in existence and the club's 56th consecutive season in the top flight of Spanish football. Season It was the longest season ever for Real Madrid. The league had two phases. In the first one, all 18 teams played each other twice (home and away). At the end of the first phase, the first six teams qualified for the championship group (Group A), the next six qualified for the intermediate group (Group B) and the last six qualified for the relegation group (Group C). In the second phase, Real Madrid played only against teams of the same group twice (home and away) and carried over their first phase record. The team played 44 games overall, finishing with 66 points and claiming its 22nd league title in history. Francisco "Paco" Buyo Sánchez (born 13 January 1958) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Best known for his Sevilla and Real Madrid spells, he appeared in 542 La Liga matches, third all-time highest at the time of his retirement, winning 12 major titles with the latter club. Milan Janković (; born 31 December 1959) is a Serbian retired footballer who played as a midfielder. Rafael Martín Vázquez (born 25 September 1965) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played mostly as an attacking midfielder. Rafael Gordillo Vázquez (born 24 February 1957) is a Spanish retired footballer. A tremendously attacking left wing-back, equally at ease as defender and midfielder and with a good effort rate, he had an unmistakable style of playing with his socks down. José Antonio Camacho Alfaro (; born 8 June 1955) is a Spanish former football left-back and a former manager.
