1986 French Open – Women's Singles
Defending champion Chris Evert defeated Martina Navratilova in a rematch of the previous two years' finals, 2–6, 6–3, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1986 French Open. It was her seventh French Open singles title and 18th and last major singles title overall, an Open Era record. Christine Marie Evert (born December 21, 1954) is an American former professional tennis player. One of the most successful players of all time, she was ranked as the world No. 1 in women's singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for 260 weeks ( fourth-most of all time), and finished as the year-end No. 1 seven times: 1974-1978, 1980 and 1981. Evert won 157 singles titles, including 18 majors (among which a record seven French Open titles and a joint-record six US Open titles). Alongside Martina Navratilova, her greatest rival, Evert dominated women's tennis from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. Andrea Temesvári (born 26 April 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Hungary. She won the Italian Open at age sixteen, but injuries would later hamper her career. Petra Feucht (born 22 March 1965), born Petra Keppeler, is a former professional tennis player from Germany. Biography Tennis career Born in Augsburg, Keppeler played professionally in the 1980s. Keppeler featured in a total of nine Federation Cup ties for West Germany, which included a semi-final win over Switzerland in 1983.
