1986 FIFA World Cup Knockout Stage
The 1986 FIFA World Cup knockout stage was the second and final stage of the 1986 FIFA World Cup finals in Mexico. The stage began on 15 June 1986, and ended with the 1986 FIFA World Cup Final, final at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on 29 June 1986. Sixteen teams advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination style tournament: The top two teams from each of the six groups, as well as the 1986 FIFA World Cup#Ranking of third-placed teams, best four third-placed teams. In the round of 16, the four third-placed teams played against four of the group winners from group A-D, with the remaining two group winners from group E and F taking on two of the group runners-up; the remaining four runners-up were paired off against each other. 1986 FIFA World Cup
The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in November 1982. Mexico was selected as the new host in May 1983, and became the first country to host the World Cup more than once, after previously 1970 FIFA World Cup, hosting the 1970 edition. A single-elimination knockout, or sudden-death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of a match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion(s). Some match-ups may be a single match or several, for example two-legged ties in European sports or best-of series in North American pro sports. Tomás Juan Boy Espinoza (28 June 1951 – 8 March 2022) was a Mexican professional manager and footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Known for his technical skills and field vision, Boy is considered as one of the greatest Mexican players of all time. Carlos Muñoz (Mexican Footballer)

Fernando Quirarte Gutiérrez (born 17 May 1956) is a Mexican former professional footballer and manager. Pablo Larios Iwasaki (, July 31, 1960 – January 31, 2019) was a Mexican professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
